CPL Match 14 – St Kitts & Nevis Patriots V Trinbago Knight Riders – Fantasy Preview

Patriots look to build momentum before heading on the road

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

This will be St Kitts & Nevis last home game at Warner Park before heading on the road, it’s fair to say they haven’t made the most of it so far. This will be the second time this season that the Patriots and Knight Riders have faced off, both teams featured in the CPL19 tournament opener where Trinbago walked away with a 11 run victory at Queen’s Park Oval. That loss proved to be costly for St Kitts & Nevis, they’ve won just two out of their six games whereas Trinbago remains undefeated on four wins near the top of the table. There is such thing called redemption though, and that’s exactly what the Patriots will be aiming for tomorrow evening. Registering just their second win of the tournament, St Kitts & Nevis managed to overhaul St Lucia in their most recent match at Warner Park which must give them some confidence going forward. Akeem Jordan made a dream start to his CPL career picking up 4/33 on debut for the Patriots, Pakistani leg-spinner Usama Mir was also impressive ripping balls on a spin-friendly surface. Power-hitting opener Evin Lewis made his return to the side and didn’t disappoint, bludgeoning a rapid-fire 65 to help the Patriots to their second win of CPL19. Three-consecutive scores of 1 for Devon Thomas at the top of the order has seen his form with the willow deteriorate, and it couldn’t have come at a worse time for St Kitts & Nevis. Their bowlers will have to be on point as well, the Knight Riders batting line-up is as damaging as they come.

Trinbago Knight Riders

The Trinbago Knight Riders will be hard to stop from here, currently undefeated in CPL19 with no indication of dropping off is a tantalizing task for upcoming opponents to face. Black Caps T20 specialist Colin Munro made a blistering-return in his first CPL19 outing scoring an unbeaten 96, just four runs short of his fourth ton in this format. Munro worked alongside Lendl Simmons who outdid the Kiwi’s strike-rate, smoking 86 off just 42 deliveries striking at 204+. Things went from bad to worse for the Tallawahs as skipper Kieron Pollard finished off Trinbago’s innings in style with a 17-ball onslaught. Holding the record for the highest score in CPL history now, the Knight Riders should be viewed as a major threat in the competition. They have lost young Pakistani quick Mohammad Hasnain who has been ordered to return home by the PCB. They’ve still got Ali Khan though who isn’t lacking speed whatsoever, and New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham has been extremely serviceable for Trinbago with the ball this season already. With such a lethal batting unit, that possibly takes a bit of pressure away from the bowling attack who can just focus on what they do best which is taking wickets instead of trying to constantly execute dot balls. Sunil Narine is another name that can’t afford to be dismissed by opposition teams, he’ll punish teams.
