World Cup Qualifiers – Super Sixes – Match 6 – UAE vs Afghanistan – Fantasy Preview

The entertainment continues in the World Cup Qualifiers with Super Sixes match between neighbors United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan. Road to the ICC World Cup already got over for UAE and they are set to complete formalities with those remaining matches while Afghanistan requires two big wins to keep their chances alive. Super Sixes Match 6 between UAE vs Afghanistan is schedule to start at 9:30 AM Local | 1 PM IST on Tuesday, 20th March 2018.

Rohan Mustafa led-side defeated an associate teams PNG and Netherlands successfully. But their losses to other teams in Super Sixes round West Indies, Ireland and Scotland shut the World Cup dream. Now, UAE has two more matches to play in this Super Sixes stage and they have a chance to destroy other teams opportunities. For an example, if UAE beat Afghanistan in this clash then Afghan’s World Cup dream will come to an end. Captain Rohan Mustafa is the most important key player for UAE. He had a good tournament and contributed with both bat and bowl all through the tournament. In the last game, Mustafa claimed four for 56 runs in 10 overs. With that four-fer, now he has a tally of 11 wickets in 5 matches and he also scored 163 runs in 5 innings. The other opener Ashfaq Ahmed is the well talented batsman and he already contributed with runs for the team in his early part of the career. It is time to move on from Chirag Suri. He has scored one fine half-century in the first round but started to struggle after that and managed to score only 9 and 0 respectively. The wicket-keeper Ghulam Shabeer has an opportunity to be back on the Playing XI.

The experienced Shaiman Anwar and Muhammad Usman are strengthening middle-order batting and both of them have a big role to play in this game. Usman did a great job against Scotland and took team from 117/6 to 249 runs with his 80 runs knock. UAE misses Rameez Shahzad in a big time, the promising batsman is not available for remainder of the tournament it seems. Adnan Mufti and Mohammad Boota didn’t have a good outings in recent times and they have an opportunity to change that with this match. The bowler Ahmed Raza came out well with a bat other day and scored a very useful 50 runs. He accompanied Usman at crucial stage of the stage and both of them added 106 runs for 7th wicket. He should come up with wicket taking spells against Afghan. The leg-spinner Imran Haider had bowled well in the tournament and he will retains his spot in the XI. The costly spell by Zahoor Khan would bring back Amir Hayat in to the XI again. The leader of pace attack Mohammad Naveed had bowled too expensive spells in last two matches and as it is a dead-rubber for UAE, Naveed might be rested.

After three consecutive losses in first three matches of the tournament, Afghanistan somehow found a way to stay alive in the tournament with back-to-back wins in the last two matches. Rashid Khan and his men needs to win both remaining matches with big margins and depending on other matches results go on their favor to finish at top two. Finally, bowlers shown some decent performances to restrict oppositions less than 200 runs in last two games. A win against West Indies was the confident booster and they have to keep the momentum in this crucial clash against UAE on Tuesday. Top order worries continuing that causes team’s success in a big manner. Mohammad Shahzad and Javed Ahmedi failed to score runs and fall for single-digit scores against West Indies. The power-hitter Shahzad has a job to do and he is expected to go for big runs in this game. Ahmedi is very useful player at top of the order and once he settle down, he will help the scoreboard ticking at other end. Rahmat Shah is the most consistent batsman of this Afghanistan unit. He struggled to score in first few games, but came back strong and contributed with 46 and 68 runs respectively in last two matches. Keeps an eye on Rahmat who has all ability to play a big knock. As Afghanistan requires an experienced player in middle-order, Samiullah Shenwari will keep his place safe.

The promising all-rounder and best performer of Afghanistan in this tournament, Mohammad Nabi will play a crucial role once again. Till now, Nabi has scored 246 runs and also picked 10 wickets in 5 matches. Middle-order specialist batsman Najibullah Zadran is also having a good tournament. The 24-years old had scored two half-centuries already and might hit third in this game. After several poor matches with both bat and ball, Sharafuddin Ashraf finally had a decent game with a ball against West Indies. With that 1 for 31 runs spell, Ashraf is expected to continue in the XI once again. The magic of Rashid Khan didn’t work out well during Group stage, but still he managed to claim 8 wickets in 5 outings. He is lot better than those performances, so we could expect match-winning show from this 19-years old skipper. Not sure on Gulbadin Naib’s place in the XI as he remained wicket-less in all three matches that he played. If he sit out, Shapoor Zadran will make his return to the XI. The 16-years old Mujeeb Ur Rahman is the trump card in the first power-play and he claimed 12 wickets in 5 matches.
