Women’s T20I Tri-Series – Australia Women vs England Women – Fantasy Preview

India hosts women’s T20 International tri-nation series involving Australia and England. Australia Women carry forwarded their dominance against India Women from the ODI series to this T20Is and won the first match comfortably. England side begins their campaign with this match against Australia. Second T20I match between Australia Women vs England Women is schedule to start at 10 AM Local | 4:30 GMT on Friday, 23rd March 2018.



The Australian Women’s team started the tri-nation tournament with a confidence performances which they gained from the ODI series against India last week. Meg Lanning led-side shown a collective performances with both bat and bowl to win the game by 6 wickets. First, Megan Schutt, Ashleigh Gardner and Ellyse Perry’s controlled bowling spell restricted India for 152 runs and then Beth Mooney, Elyse Vilani and Meg Lanning came with an impressive cameos to win the game with an 11 balls to spare. As they started the tournament with a comfortable victory, they are unlikely to disturb the winning combination. The experienced pair Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney opens an innings for Australia and the power-hitting Beth Mooney led the charge against India on Thursday. Healy fell early for 4 runs but she will come with good performance this time around. Remember, she notched a big century in the last ODI game against India women few days ago. Beth Mooney is the dangerous player at top of the order and she could win the game with her big hits.

The all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner had a very good game against India where she picked 2 for 22 runs in 4 overs spell. She also started well with a bat but unfortunately dismissed for 15 runs off 8 balls. Keeps an eye on Gardner who is capable with both bat and bowl. Middle-order batsman Elyse Vilani had played a good hands for runs 39 off 33 balls. She has 1100+ T20I runs to her name and that shows her caliber. Skipper Meg Lanning took her team to victory with well made 35 runs off 25 balls. She needs 35 more runs to achieve the feat 2000 runs in T20Is. Hopefully, she will achieve that landmark in this match itself. The 31-years old middle-order batsman Rachel Haynes is also in good form and she could be promote up in the order at any time. She is capable of playing a valuable knocks. All-rounder Ellyse Perry is one of the star player of the team and she performed well with two wickets against India in the first match. She controls the opposition in middle-overs. Megan Schutt and Delissa Kimmince are front-line pace bowlers for Australia. Among two of them, Schutt had bowled well economical spell against India while Kimmince bowled most expensive spell of the match for Australia. We can witness a good come back from Delissa and Schutt. Left-arm spinners Sophie Molineux and Jess Jonassen bowled 2 overs each in the first game and both of them remained wicket-less. It was the debut game for Sophie and she deserves a second chance.



Heather Knight led English side had a pretty good practice with two matches against India A earlier this week. They were very clinical in both occasions and that would help them to play with a confidence against the rivalry Australia. There all plenty of talented performers are in this England squad. Danielle Wyatt and Tammy Beaumont are expected to open the innings for England. The hard-hitting Danielle Wyatt scored a big century when these two teams met last time in November 2017. She is the key for England at top of the order. Beaumont’s overall strike-rate were under 100 in T20Is but she is capable of playing valuable knocks. The experienced captain Heather Knight smashed 24 balls 52 runs in the first warm-up match. She used to bat in middle-order and also pick wickets with her part-time off-spin.

The all-rounder Natalie Sciver has a huge role to play with both bat and bowl in this game. She has over 500 and runs and 35 wickets to her name in the format, hope for some better outcome from her on Friday. Amy Jones takes care of wicket-keeper’s duty along with batting in middle-order. She has played only 9 T20I innings till now and yet to play an impressive knock. All-rounder Alice Davidson is awaiting to play her debut match in T20I, quite possibly she will get a game against Australia. The 31-year all-rounder Jenny Gunn is the most experienced player in the group. She maintains strike-rate at 100 and claimed a tally of 70 wickets to her name. She is one of the key player in England unit. Katie George who yet to make a debut in T20I, made an impression with a spell of 4 wickets for 6 runs against India A in the warm-up match. That kind of bowling might reward her a well-deserved debut on Friday. The experienced off-spinner Danielle Hazell has 75 T20I wickets to her credits and she used to bowl well controlled spells for her team. The 18-years old left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone is on the line to get a game and she already claimed 7 wickets in her 5 appearances for England. The pace bowler Anya Shrubsole is the major impact bowler in this England squad who has a tally of 68 wickets in her bag. She is a match-winner and could possibly pick 3 or more wickets in this game.
