The topper of the points table Multan Sultans set for the clash against the team with zero wins Lahore Qalandars in the first match of today’s double-header in the Pakistan Super League. Multan Sultans has the right combination of batting and bowling unit but result of the last match gone against them, so they look to back to winning ways. Lahore Qalandars till searching for their first win. Match 20 between Multan Sultans vs Lahore Qalandars is schedule to begin at 3:30 PM Local | 5 PM IST today.

Four wins, two losses and 1 no result holds Shoaib Malik led-side at top of the table. The brand new franchise in the PSL, Multan Sultans has three more matches to play and they need at least two more wins to secure their place in playoff. Sultans are one of the strong pace unit in the tournament and finally Umar Gul earned his opportunity in the last game. Gul who stood at no.2 in T20 cricket fastest 200 wickets taker list, started his campaign with a bang 6 wickets haul other night. There were bit of troubles at top of the order as Ahmed Shehzad shows an inconsistency with a bat. The legend Kumar Sangakkara has three half-centuries for his credits in 6 innings but his dismissal of golden duck in the last game, pressurize him to do well today. Sohaib Maqsood is doing great job at no. 3, particularly in last two innings, he had played a good hand. Ross Whiteley got his first chance couple of days ago by replacing Darren Bravo. Whiteley will keep Bravo away from here on. The power of batting unit Shoaib Malik and Kieron Pollard takes care of middle-order batting and finishing an innings on high. The pillar of the team Malik had played another good innings when he scored an unbeaten 65 runs against Gladiators other night. The big man Pollard finishes with his big hits but still he didn’t get a chance to play a longer innings. Hopefully, he will come with very quick half-century or more in the upcoming matches. Junaid Khan was rested for the last game and Umar Gul has replaced him. To reduce a workload of fast bowlers, Sultans might either one of Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Irfan today. That case, Junaid will return to the XI. There will be no wonder if Gul add 3 or more wickets to his tally today. At some point Shan Masood would replaces Shehzad at top of the order, possible chances for it to happen today, especially after Masood’s heroics as substitute on the field other night.

Six losses out of 6 matches keeps Lahore Qalandars at bottom of the table and their worst run continues for a successive third season in the PSL. At last Anton Devcich got a game and he just exploded straightaway. Brendon McCullum and co. finally did some good job with a bat and once again failed to defend the total. The opening combination of Fakhar Zaman and Devcich worked so well yesterday, those two will continue to play at top order once again. Both openers should play well against the quality attack of Sultans. Qalandars dropped Umar Akmal and Sohail Akthar in the last game. Umar Akmal may come back to the XI and keep wickets. As Denesh Ramdin wasted another chance in the last game, he might make a way for pacer Mitchell McClenaghan or for batsman Cameron Delport. Skipper McCullum played a quick fire 33 off 12 balls and that might force him to play in middle-order again. The magical Sunil Narine was back with a good bowling spell and finally he got the first 3 wickets haul in the season. Things didn’t go in his way with the bat but he compensated it with a ball. Hope for Narine to come with all-round performances against Sultans. Aamir Yamin simply thrown out an opportunity by bowled one poor over. Imran Khan Jr. was slightly expensive but claimed a wicket at crucial time. So, he will keep his place in the XI. Yasir Shah has a job on the hands and should play a crucial role in middle-overs. Sohail Khan had a poor game yesterday, but still will get a second chance.
