The Champions of the first season and the champions of the second season fights for the title in the Final of the third season. Defending champions Peshawar Zalmi are just a step away from defending the title successfully. On other side, Islamabad United aiming for their second title in three years. The Final match between Islamabad United vs Peshawar Zalmi is schedule to start at 7 PM Local | 7:30 PM IST on Sunday, 25th March 2018.

The champions of the inaugural season Islamabad United started the on-going season with some lack of performances but they were recovered well after the arrival of captain Misbah-ul-Haq and registered six wins in a row to finish at top of the table. Also, won the first playoff quite comfortably and qualified for the final. Islamabad United boosted with their overseas players availability for the play-offs in Pakistan. Bunch of players such as Luke Ronchi, JP Duminy, Alex Hales, Chadwick Walton and Samit Patel. The power-hitting opener Luke Ronchi is at third in the most run scorer list right now and he had played so many firing knocks this year. In the first qualifier, Ronchi came with a fantastic knock of 94 not out off just 39 balls with 12 fours and 5 sixes. He is the key player for sure and once the day goes in his favor, he will give you monstrous points. JP Duminy and Alex Hales also doing a great job with a bat. Duminy who struggled for maintaining good strike-rate, picked up well in the second half of the tournament and contributed with runs every time that he batted. United played without their captain Misbah in the qualifiers last Sunday. Misbah was sidelined with hairline fracture in his wrist and his availability for the final is uncertain.

Local batsman Sahibzada Farhan utilized the opportunity well and scored an useful 29 off 18 balls in the last game. The all-rounder Samit Patel continuing his good work with a ball. He is one of the bigger threat for the opposition during the power-play overs. Samit is well capable batsman too but unfortunately, he didn’t get enough batting opportunities in the tournament. Hussain Talat and Asif Ali are two in-form domestic batsmen in the season for Islamabad United. Both of them were contributed with an aggressive knocks at several occasions and deserves a place in the playing XI. All rounder Shadab Khan just managed to pick 6 wickets in 11 matches this year but his economical spells affected run-flow of an oppositions. He is also good with the bat, whenever gets an opportunity to bat he scores runs for his team. Bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf takes care of lower middle-order batting along with wicket-taking spells. The 24-years old has picked a tally of 16 wickets in the season and also scores runs quickly at end overs. Amad Butt somehow managed to bowl well in last few games and he is expected to keep his place safe. The most experienced bowler Mohammad Sami is the key and he will bring all his experiences on to the field once again.

Darren Sammy and his men held all nerves and qualified to their second PSL final successfully. Zalmi have won 5 and lost 5 each to finish at third in the points table. But, their winning streak continued and qualified for the final after defeat both Gladiators and Kings in an eliminator matches. On this title defending season, Zalmi has done a good job to reach the final and have a chance to become the first ever franchise to lift the PSL trophy in a row. Possibly there won’t any change in Zalmi’s an overseas players combination. The tournament leading run scorer Kamran Akmal played a stunning knock in the last eliminator game and his partnership along with Andre Fletcher described a victory for Zalmi. Akmal’s 77 runs off 27 balls at 285.19 was the major reason for Zalmi entry in the final. Both Akmal and Fletcher has a role to play once again and they need to give a solid start for the team. The professor Mohammad Hafeez struggled to play big knocks in last few outings. He starts off well but fail in convert to 50 or more runs. All-rounder Liam Dawson was promoted to no. 3 in the batting order against Karachi, chances for him to come up in the order once again. He is one of the threatening bowler in Zalmi squad and he should go for at least 2 wickets in this game.

Skipper Darren Sammy who is not 100% fit, till managed to play matches and helps team success. The big hitter could play big shots in this grand final. Saad Nasim was very impressive in the later part of league stage but struggled in both eliminator games. Hopefully, he will come with some good batting performances in the final. Wahab Riaz and Hasan Ali are front-line pace bowlers of Zalmi and both of them are having several memorable moments this season. Wahab has claimed 15 wickets in 11 matches and also bowled good economical spells at many occasions. On other side, Hasan Ali picked 10 wickets in 8 matches. He also bowled decent spells at several times. The 19-years old Sameen Gul and Umaid Asif are other two regular pace bowlers of Zalmi. Asif claimed 12 wickets in 11 matches while Sameen has taken 6 wickets to his name. Zalmi unlikely to go for change in bowling unit for the all important final match.
