The Pakistan Super League – Season 3 shifted to where it belongs for Play-offs and Lahore set to host the first Eliminator between Peshawar Zalmi vs Quetta Gladiators. Both of these teams have been involved in last year Final and now fighting to stay alive in the tournament. The Eliminator 1 is schedule to start at 7 PM Local | 7:30 PM IST on Tuesday, 20th March 2018.

After so many ups and downs, the defending champions somehow managed to book a seat in the play-off round. Stunning performances in last two matches assured play-off spot for Peshawar Zalmi and their title defending season continues. Kamran Akmal was the hero last two matches as he scored 75 and 107 runs respectively. He was the hero of last season and he back to form at right moment. No surprises if he go for another big innings in front of Lahore crowd. Mohammad Hafeez who took care of batting in the first-half of league round, struggles to score runs quickly in last few matches. But as the tournament is on Pakistan land now, Hafeez would be eager to score runs. In the first play-off match, we were witnessed that lots of overseas players traveled to play in Pakistan leg and that same trend is expected to continue in this game too. Darren Sammy and Andre Fletcher were confirmed their availability while Riki Wessels and Liam Dawson’s availability are not confirmed yet. As Wessels didn’t score much of runs in last two games, Fletcher might come back to an opening spot on Tuesday night.

Dwayne Smith is also expected to stay with the franchise and he should regain his form in this game. Finally, Zalmi gave an opportunity to Saad Nasim and he grabbed it gradually with 35 (18 balls) and 17* (8) respectively. He deserves a place in the XI. As both batting and bowling combinations worked well, Zalmi will go with an unchanged XI. Skipper Darren Sammy used to play an aggressive innings whenever it needed at lower middle-order. He smashed a quick-fire 36 off 15 balls against Kings few days ago. The left-arm spin allrounder Liam Dawson was simply amazing with a ball, except for the last game against Qalandars. He was really good and helped team in a big way throughout second half of the league stage. Zalmi has a nice and settled pace unit with players like Hasan Ali and Wahab Riaz. Both of them have contributed with their wicket-taking spells in various occasions and will continue the same in this do or die encounter too. Umaid Asif and Sameen Gul are other pace bowlers of Zalmi in recent matches. Sameen goes for runs at one game, suddenly bowls well controlled spell in very next game. Umaid Asif was an impressive performer from the start of the tournament. It will a big game for both of them.

The finalist of first two seasons, Quetta Gladiators looking forward to take a place in their third final stint. Just like Zalmi, Sarfraz led Gladiators also had some ups and downs in the season. At one stage, Gladiators were on top with a hat-trick of wins. But, as the last two matches results didn’t go in their favor, Gladiators have been qualified as fourth team. As Quetta Gladiators star overseas players Shane Watson, Kevin Pietersen, Jason Roy and Ben Laughlin are not traveling to Pakistan, they have made few new signings for this play-off. It seems Rilee Rossouw has been accepted to stay with Gladiators for rest of the season. Chris Green, Thisara Perera, Mahmudullah and Tom Kohler-Cadmore will be available for this game. Among four above mentioned players Thisara Perera and Mahmudullah had just completed their national duties and both are having some good form behind them. As Chris Green proved a lot in the BBL-07, he and Rossouw are expected to fulfill an overseas players quota on Tuesday.

Lot of changes are expected in the Gladiators batting order. Local players Umar Amin and Asad Shafiq are expected to open an innings for Gladiators in this game. Both of them having an average season but this will be a big opportunity for them to shine. Rameez Raja Jr. who played at middle-order might move up to no.3. If Rossouw is playing, he will occupy the place at 4 followed by Mahmudullah and Sarfraz Ahmed. Mahmudullah who gifted a famous victory with a six for his team Bangladesh few days ago, will go for much more runs in this game. Thisara Perera also scored a half-century in his last match on Friday, could play an important role with both bat and bowl. The bowling combination of Anwar Ali and Rahat Ali worked well in the season and they will continue to offer the similar performances in this game. Left-arm spinners Mohammad Nawaz and Hasan Khan did a good job in both power-play and middle overs. They are also handy with a bat at lower order. The off-spin of Chris Green also could come into play at this batting friendly Lahore track.
