SL v IND v BAN - T20

The Nidahas Trophy – celebration of Sri Lanka’s 70th year Independence kick started with a thriller between Sri Lanka and India and the home side started the tournament with a win. Now, in the second match India battles against Bangladesh on Thursday night. There are plenty of rivalry between these two teams and it will be an undoubted entertainer. Match 2 between Bangladesh vs India is schedule to start at 7 PM Local | 7 PM IST on Thursday, 8th March 2018.

Bangladesh captain Shakib al Hasan has been ruled out as he is not recovered from a finger injury. Team had a lot of difficult and frustrating moments in recent times and they would look for good turn around in this fresh tournament. On the absence of Shakib, Mahmudullah will lead the team again and he hope for some good performances from his men. As Soumya Sarkar played back-to-back good innings against Sri Lanka in a two match T20I series last month, he will continue to open the innings along with the regular opener Tamim Iqbal. The experienced wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim had batted at no. 3 in a recent series against Sri Lanka and as he did a good job, will continue at the same position. The inclusion of Sabbir Rahman and Liton Das into the squad would make certain changes in the batting order. Either one of Liton Das or Nurul Hasan will earn an opportunity in the XI and will bat at no. 4. Acting skipper Mahmudullah had played two 40+ runs knocks in a row against Sri Lanka last month and he has a plenty of responsibilities on his shoulders in this tournament.

Sabbir Rahman had a mixed season in past 6 months or so with lot of an average performances. He would eye on regain his form and as he generally played well against India in the past, hope for some good come back from him. Despite failures in the T20I series against Sri Lanka, Ariful Haque expected to retain his place in the playing XI. He was one of the shined middle-order batsman in BPL season and the team management has a confidence on him. The spin department has Mehidy Hasan and Nazmul Islam as a specialist spinners. Mehidy had played well in Sri Lanka in the past that will help him to get a place in the XI. The left-arm spinner Nazmul had bowled well in both T20 matches against Sri Lanka recently. That performances will give him a chance in the XI. As Sri Lanka pitches supports both pace and spin, Bangladesh might go with 2 specialist pacers. That case, Mustafizur Rahman is the one who confirms his place and either one among Rubel Hossain, Abu Hider or Taskin Ahmed will get a place in the XI. If suppose they play with three pacers, Nazmul might misses out.

Team India lost tri-series opener to Sri Lanka and look to register their first success with this game against Bangladesh. On the absences of several players, including captain Virat Kohli, team India had played with multiple new players in the first game. Captain Rohit Sharma’s horrible run continued when he was dismissed for duck on Tuesday. Now, he is under tremendous pressure not only to lead the side well, also need to contribute with runs at top of the order. The other opener Shikhar Dhawan just continuing his dream form and he missed out well deserved maiden T20I century by 10 runs. It was a very fine innings by Dhawan who scored 90 runs off 49 balls. We can expect a monstrous innings once again from this Delhi guy. Suresh Raina had a good series against South Africa but it was not a good start in the Nidahas Trophy for him. He departed early with 1 run but player on his caliber would come back quick and much stronger performances.

Manish Pandey and Rishabh Pant had occupied no. 4 and 5 in batting order and both of them had accompanied Shikhar Dhawan well. But as an individual, both Manish and Pant wasted lot of deliveries and struggle to hit maximum. Pandey scored 37 off 35 balls while Rishabh Pant managed a run-a-ball 23 runs. Still, both are expected to keep their places in the XI as they deserved a second chance. Dinesh Karthik kept wickets behind the stumps in the first game and will continue the same in this game too. He has a chance to come bit up in the order against Bangladesh. The inexperienced bowling attack paid off for Team India other night. Bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar was the best pick of the bowler with the spell of 2 for 28 in 4 overs. With that efforts he will retain his place in the XI. Other all-rounder Vijay Shankar had bowled only 2 overs spell but nothing gone in his way. As spin works better, Axar has a chance to replace Shankar and joins Sundar and Chahal as a third spinner. Pacers Jaydev Unadkat and Shardul Thakur had struggled too much in the first game. Thakur bowled 27 runs over in the power-play and that would cost his place. Mohammad Siraj who was in tremendous form in a domestic season might replaces Thakur.
