After lot of controversies, both South Africa and Australia are ready for an action as third test begins in Cape Town on Thursday. Both teams have taken valuable break for a week and now looking forward to take a lead in the series which leveled 1-1. Third Test match between South Africa vs Australia is schedule to start 10:30 AM Local | 2 PM IST on Thursday, 22nd March 2018.

The fast bowler Kagiso Rabada is available for the test as the ICC overturned on the ban and that boosts South African camp without a doubt. Faf du Plessis and his men lost the first test but fought hard to be back in the series and leveled it 1-1 with a win in the second test. They were bit upset and down when the ICC announced two test ban on Rabada but ICC lifted the ban just a couple of days before the third test. The regular test opening pair Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar will continue the duty at top of the order once again. Markram scored a big hundred in the first match but he struggled in both innings of a second. On other side, Dean Elgar didn’t score even a half-century in 4 innings. He has to prove his value at top order to cement his place in the test side. The promising Hashim Amla played an forgettable test match in Durban but he came back well somehow to score 56 and 27 runs respectively in the last test. As this test will be played at Newlands, all eyes on Amla because he has played so many matches at this ground and has plenty of memories at Newlands. The star batsman AB de Villiers an unbeaten knock of 126 runs helped the team to take a lead in the first innings of second test. He also batted well for his 28 runs in the second innings and assured a victory for the team. Undoubtedly, Mr. 360 has a huge role to play again for South Africa.

Skipper Faf du Plessis and the extra batsman Theunis de Bruyn had back-to-back poor outings respectively. Captain Faf du Plessis is under tremendous pressure as he struggled for runs since his return from hip injury. The batsman Temba Bavuma has recovered from an injury and he is expected to replace the out-of-form Theunis de Bruyn in the XI. The wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock somehow overcame on his poor form to score a valuable 83 runs in the second innings of first test. But, he again went back to bad form and managed to score only 9 runs in a second test. De Kock must come with runs to keep his place safe as Heinrich Klaasen awaiting to grab the opportunity. South Africa used to play with a three men seam attack along with left-arm spin of Keshav Maharaj. The bowling all-rounder Vernon Philander who had an amazing series against India, managed to pick only 5 wickets in 4 innings against Australia. Cape Town is Philander’s home ground and that will boost him to come with big performances. Lungi Ngidi is struggling with toe injury, so if he is not clear to play then Morne Morkel might replaces him. Kagiso Rabada who was the star of second test, will continue to play a big role for his team. Chris Morris and rest others will warm the bench.

The overexcited Australian team had a lot of tough moments during the second test and end on losing side in Port Elizabeth. Steven Smith led-side having a right combination of players and if they execute their plans well, surely Australia will take a lead in the series. Australians lost the game but they are unlikely do a change as those players deserves a second chance. Cameron Bancroft and David Warner had offered a decent in every innings but both of them failed to score a match-winning hundred in both tests. Lot of responsibilities on Warner right now and he is in a position to live up to the expectations. The batsman at no. 3, Usman Khawaja batted really well in the second innings of second test to score a fighting 75 runs. Khawaja has a capabilities of playing big innings, hope for some good performances from him in this test. Captain Smith started the series with an half-century but since that he managed to score 38, 25 and 11 runs respectively. The no. 1 test batsman should play a huge innings to take his team home safely.

The Marsh brothers occupies Australian middle-order and they will keep those positions safely. Batsman Shaun Marsh managed to score a total of 98 runs in 4 innings with the highest score 40. Shaun had an amazing outings during the Ashes couple of months ago, but struggling to score in South Africa. All-rounder Mitchell Marsh scored 151 runs and also claimed 3 wickets in 2 test matches. It wasn’t enough for Mitchell standard and he knew it without a doubt. Hope for some better all round performances from him at Cape Town. Tim Paine will continue to take care of wicket-keeper’s duties behind the stumps along with bat at no. 7. Some possible chances for Peter Handscomb to replaces one half of Marsh brothers, Shaun in this game. Three men pace attack of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood worked really well for Australia and they will continue with same three of them. The star bowler Starc has claimed 10 wickets in 4 innings while Pat Cummins picked 6. The other pacer Josh Hazlewood managed to take 7 wickets in 4 innings. Among them, Starc and Cummins are capable with a bat too. Nathan Lyon will be a lone spinner once again and he will play key role once again.
