After 8 matches were held in Dubai’s first leg, focus shifts to Sharjah which set to host next 7 matches of the ongoing Pakistan Super League – Season 3. Teams which has each 1 win and a loss at the moment, Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators kicks off Sharjah leg. Match 9 between Islamabad United vs Quetta Gladiators is schedule to start at 8 PM Local | 9:30 PM IST on Wednesday, 28th February 2018.

The title winners of the inaugural season in 2016, Islamabad United are currently at bottom second in the points table with 1 win in 2 matches. They have missed a service of veteran skipper Misbah-ul-Haq who was sidelined with a hamstring injury. The good news for the team that Misbah might back into the XI for this clash on Wednesday night. South African all-rounder JP Duminy has arrived in UAE and his current form will definitely boost United squad. Islamabad side had played with Luke Ronchi and Chadwick Walton at top of the order. As Luke Ronchi failed in both matches with scores 3 and 0 respectively, Duminy will possibly replaces him in the XI. England fast bowler Steven Finn replaced an all-rounder Samit Patel in the last game and he picked 1 for 14 in his 4 overs spell. With that sound efforts Finn will retains his place in the team. Luke Ronchi didn’t play well in recently concluded HK T20 Blitz and he just continuing that poor form in the PSL too. Chadwick Walton is the other wicket keeper batsman who played in both matches and his performances were arguably better than Ronchi in those matches. Team expects a firing start from Walton once again. The inexperienced batting unit of domestic players led the team down in both occasions. But, Hussain Talat was the exception who played a match-winning knock of 48 not out against Sultans couple of days ago. As Iftikhar Ahmed failed in the first game, he made a way for Sahibzada Farhan in the last game. But Farhan also managed to score only 9 runs on his PSL debut. Farhan might get a second chance in this game. Asif Ali is the experienced player from domestic circuit but his failure in both matches put him under scrutiny.

Skipper Misbah is expected to be in full fitness for this game, if he is 100% then Asif Ali will go back to bench. After failed with just 2 runs in the first match, young Hussain Talat came with a very matured performance in a second match and scored an unbeaten 48 to assure the first win for his team. He will continue to bat in middle-order. All-rounder Andre Russell had a tough outing on his return in the first game but he somehow bowled well and claimed two wickets for 30 runs. He was departed for golden duck other day and it clearly shows Russell should bring his A-game to win matches for the team, also for his own well-being.  The young star all-rounder Shadab Khan had a back-to-back poor games in Dubai. He remained wicket-less in both occasions and conceded runs at 8.5 RPO. He is the asset for United once he find his form back, he will take the team home in many occasions. Seam all-rounder Faheem Ashraf strengthening batting at lower order with his hard hitting. He was slightly expensive in the first game but bowled an economical spell in a second. The veteran Mohammad Sami and an acting captain Rumman Raees were best bowlers of the team in those two matches. Sami used all his experiences to claim 3 wicket in 2 matches and he also bowled well economical spells. Rumman Raees was at his best when he claimed 3 for 13 in 4 overs against Multan on Sunday.

The runners-up of past seasons Quetta Gladiators faced a big defeat in their season opener against Karachi Kings. But they found a way and came back too strong when they beat Qalandars by 9 wickets on Saturday night. They used to play with an overseas players such as Shane Watson, Kevin Pietersen, Rilee Rossouw and Jofra Archer. Among four of them, Shane Watson had already played a match-winning knock of 66 against Qalandars and he also claimed a tally of 4 wickets in 2 matches. Jofra Archer started the season with an expensive over but he turned things quickly and claimed 5 wickets in 2 innings. Kevin Pietersen and Rille Rossouw are expected to showcase their batting skills when are they gets their opportunities. No clue why that Gladiators sends Asad Shafiq at opening slot. He batted nicely and scored 38 runs against Lahore but he used to score runs just around strike-rate of 100 which were not a great thing in T20 format. Umar Amin played at no.3 but at some point of the tournament he will be open the batting for Gladiators. He scored run-a-ball 31 in the first match and also added an unbeaten 13 runs in a second. The most experienced all-rounder Shane Watson is the trump card for Gladiators who could score runs at monstrous strike-rate and also able to pick wickets at consistent base. Kevin Pietersen who sets to retire from all forms of cricket after the PSL, wants to finish his career in high that means we can expect several good performances from him for next few weeks.

Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed did a good job as a captain in the last game. He should step up with a bat as an individual, especially when he bat at middle-order position. Mohammad Nawaz shined with 30 runs off 20 balls in the first game, then he came with a record-breaking spell of 2 for 4 runs in his 4 overs against Lahore Qalandars. He stunned everyone with his an unbelievable spell other day, hope for more good performances from him in this game. The captain of Pakistan U-19 team Hasan Khan made a name for himself with a decent spells in both occasions. He controls the run-flow in middle-overs and that helps the team in a big way. After bowled a spell of 2 for 30 against Kings, pacer Jofra Archer came with much better spell of 3 for 23 against Qalandars other day. He is the new sensation of T20 leagues and he could improve his game everyday. Anwar Ali and Rahat Ali are other two pace bowlers used in first two matches. Anwar Ali has claimed 2 wickets in the first game but didn’t bowl in the last game while Rahat Ali came back harder with an economical spell of 1 for 26 in the last game. With those efforts both of them will keep their places in the XI. Bangladesh batting all-rounder Mahmudullah will leave for the national duties after next two matches. As he will look to play a game at least before leave the franchise, lot of chance for him to get a game against United on Wednesday.
