In the first match of Super Saturday’s double-header, the defending champions Peshawar Zalmi clashes against the champion of the first season Islamabad United. Zalmi started the title defending season with a loss on opening day, will look to turn the table with this match. On other side, Misbah led United will play with a mindset of creating early momentum. Match 4 between Islamabad United vs Peshawar Zalmi is schedule to start at 3:30 PM Local | 5 PM IST on Saturday, 24th February 2018.

The champions of an inaugural season Islamabad United concluded the last season at bottom second. The veteran Misbah-ul-Haq led-side will start the new season with a refreshing mind and will look for a winning start. United had signed lot of limited-overs specialist overseas players for this season. But, unfortunately part of overseas players are not available currently due to their national commitments. England’s Alex Hales and Sam Billings are not available, also South Africa T20 skipper JP Duminy. Former New Zealand wicket keeper Luke Ronchi and all rounder Samit Patel are available for the selection and both of them are specialist T20 players. West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell who just completed one-year ban recently, make his return to competitive cricket with this match. He had played a key role in United’s title win in the first season and he has a big role to play in this season too. The wicket-keeper batsman Chadwick Walton was signed in as a replacement player for the players who are on international commitments. The Caribbean leg-spinner Samuel Badree is also available to serve for United. The emerging all-rounder in Pakistan national team Faheem Ashraf set to go on United colors this year and his recent tour of New Zealand would help him to perform well in this season.

Pakistan domestic batsman Iftikhar Ahmed was in stunning form in a recent domestic matches. He had scored 5 50’s and 1 century in his last 8 List A appearances. He used to bowl some decent spell of part-time overs too. Pakistan U19 wicket keeper batsman Rohail Nazir is awaiting to make his PSL debut but he has to wait for his turn. Batsmen either Sahibzada Farhan or Mohammad Hasan will earn a place in the playing XI for this match. Pakistan’s young all-round sensation Shadab Khan will play for Islamabad United again. He was the find of the season last year and that PSL season turned his cricket career and he achieved a lot in Pakistan team as well. Shadab is a key player without a doubt and he will play a key role in this first match. The left-arm spinner Zafar Gohar is a wicket-taking bowler and he also has a chance to feature in the first match. The most experienced Mohammad Sami is expect to lead the pace battery and bring all his experiences in to it. Rumman Raees who had a very good limited overs tour of New Zealand recently, will go with confident in this game.

The defending champions had started the season with a heavy defeat to Multan Sultans. Some bad combination of players caused a game for Zalmi other night. Therefore, we could expect at least one change in the XI. Skipper Darren Sammy and his men will look to re-group quickly and bounce back strongly in the competition. The highest run-getter of last year, Kamran Akmal failed to score a run on Thursday night. He is the key player of Zalmi and the team wants him to play a good knock straight away in this game. Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal will be available for this game too, so he will continue to open the innings for Zalmi. The Caribbean all-rounder Dwayne Smith had been moved down to no. 3 in the first match and he will continue to play at same position. He troubled a lot in the recent HK T20 Blitz, hope for some good firing performances from him in this evening fixture. The experienced Professor Mohammad Hafeez started his innings slowly but finished with must needed half-century other night. He has to play a key role once again. Haris Sohail who played a good cricket in New Zealand tour recently, managed to score only 14 runs in the season opener. He used to play good cricket in past two seasons and with that he will come with fine innings in this game.

Skipper Darren Sammy slapped the ball all over the park for his very quick 29 off 11 balls. But those weren’t enough for the team to win it. Sammy, the experienced captain in T20 format should bring all his tactics to win this game. Hammad Azam got an opportunity in the first game, but he wasn’t much impressive with a bowl. He might lose his place to either Khshdil Shah or Khalid Usman. All-rounder Saad Nasim is also awaiting for an opportunity. England bowler Chris Jordan had bowled a wicket-less spell but still he managed to bowl it decently well. So, he mostly retains his place in the XI. The young left-arm spinner Mohammad Asghar had bowled a nice spell of 1 for 18 in 4 overs against Sultans. He should continue to bowl similar spell in this game. The experienced Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz started the season with well noted 2 for 19. It was a great start for him hopefully, he will carry on with that momentum. The young leg-spinner Ibtisam Sheikh made his T20 and PSL debut other night but it wasn’t great start for him. He might lose the place to Umaid Asif. An overseas batsman Sabbir Rahman and Riki Wessels also in the line and awaiting for their opportunities.
