The first ever one-day international series win in South Africa soil took the visitors team India to no. 1 in the ICC ODI Rankings. South Africa failed to maintain the momentum which they got in pink colors at Johannesburg, in the end sixth and last match turned out as a dead-rubber. But as South Africa look forward to finish the series with win and India eye on strong 5-1 finish, this match would offer all thrill and excitement once again. Sixth ODI between South Africa vs India schedule to start at 1 PM Local | 4:30 PM IST on Friday, 16th February 2018.

The ultimate batting collapse caused one more match for the home team in the series. After that stunning batting performances in Johannesburg last Saturday, batsmen surrendered to Indian wrist spinners once again on Tuesday. Finally, Hashim Amla put up his first half-century in the series but his timely run out pushed team into losing side. Skipper Aiden Markram at top order and Miller & Klassen at middle-order gave some useful contribution but those weren’t enough to register a second win on trout. Earlier in the day, Lungi Ngidi claimed his first ever ODI 4-wicket haul but as others didn’t pick much of wickets, India scored 274 runs in 50 overs. Now it’s a testing time for South Africa and they want to conclude the series with a win. Hashim Amla and Aiden Markram set to open the innings once again. In the last match, they have scored 52 runs for the first wicket which was their best in the series. If both openers goes solid once again, they will give an early momentum for the team. Amla took 92 balls for his 71 runs in Port Elizabeth, as Centurion helps spinners more he needs to stay long for the team wellness. Markram gave good start in last few matches, but he fails in convert to big scores. If he does that, it will be career changing moment for him.

Seniors JP Duminy and AB de Villers had a frustrating game on Tuesday. Duminy who batted well in Cape Town, lost his wicket for just 1 run in the last game. He wasn’t at his best with a ball too. Duminy is going to lead the team in the upcoming T20I series, so he would look to play good innings in this match and that will give him lots of confidence. Mr. 360 AB de Villiers had one more tough day against India. After scored 22 runs on his return in 4th match, ABD departed for just 6 runs in the last ODI. He should play a match winning knock in this game to finish the series in good note. Somehow David Miller found a form back with two handy cameos in last two matches. The limited overs specialist has a job to do in this game. Wicket-keeper Heinrich Klaasen was very impressive on his first International series itself. He played a match winning knock in Johannesburg and continue his good show in Port Elizabeth as well. He is the new key player of South Africa at the moment. Andile Phehlukwayo dismissed for duck in the last game. As Chris Morris is fit to play, Phehlukwayo has a chance to make a way for Morris. In case South Africa decides to play with both Morris and Phehlukwayo, Morne Morkel will be rested once again with a sight of Australia test series ahead. Kagiso Rabada has a timeout during T20I next week, so he will play this game. With Centurion’s track in mind, chances are high for both Tahir and Shamsi to get a game on Friday. Both of them are out of touch at the moment but they could get back some rhythm in this game. Lungi Ngidi’s four wicket haul will present him a place in the XI.

Wrist spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav has shared 30 wickets among them in 5 ODIs in this series and played a very huge part in the historical series victory in South African soil. Skipper Virat Kohli and the opener Shikhar Dhawan played a huge part with bat in all 5 matches to secure a series 4-1. As series has been sealed already, some experiments are expected from Indian side. Bench strength need to be tested and with that some players like Manish Pandey and Mohammad Shami might get a game on Friday. Rohit Sharma somehow found his form back with a solid ton in the last game and he will keep his place in the XI. His partner Shikhar gave another huge start for the team with firing 34 runs which included 8 boundaries. The in-form batsman will continue to bat well again in this game. Skipper Virat Kohli ran out for 36 runs in the last game. It was his first innings which he scored less than 40 in the series. The run machine will be back to hunt with big score in this game. Ajinkya Rahane might be sit out for this ODI as the bench players are expected to be in the XI. Rahane has an aggregate of 106 from five games, with 79 off those coming in the first ODI, chances are high for him to be rested. Manish Pandey will be the first choice replacement but as Shreyas Iyer already in the XI, Manish will probably bat at no. 5. Shreyas had played a decent innings in the last game. But, he failed to handle the pressure once again in last 10 overs of the batting innings. The future of the team Iyer is expected to keep his place safe and this time hope for him to play some big role.

The experienced wicket-keeper MS Dhoni shown a poor attitude in the last phase of the innings by scored 13 off 17 balls. He turned out as a reason for not passing 300 runs once again. Some possible chances for him to be rested and that case, back up wicket keeper Dinesh Karthik will come into the XI for the first time in the series. Hardik Pandya failure with the bat continued when he dismissed for golden duck other day. But somehow he manage to compensate that with two important wickets of Duminy and AB de Villiers in a short period. Also, his accurate direct-hit made a danger man Amla ran out. Pandya did a great job with ball and his fielding but he has to play a good role with the bat too. Wrist spinners Kuldeep and Yuzvendra Chahal want to finish the series with a record setting wickets tally. That means both of them has a huge chance to play together once again. There would be a possible changes in the pace department. As both Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah continuously playing from Test series, either one or both will be rested for this dead-rubber. Mohammad Shami who warmed a bench throughout this ODI series, finally has a chance to take a field. Shardul Thakur also has a slight chances to get a game.
