BANGLADESH :

Two impressive batting shows followed two batting collapses for Bangladesh in the league stage. After struggled to score runs against Zimbabwe, once again Bangladesh fumbled with a bat and bowled out for just 82 runs in 24 overs. As bowlers didn’t have much to restrict, Bangladesh handed over 10 wickets win to Sri Lanka on Friday. After scored 3 consecutive half-centuries, Tamim Iqbal managed to score only 5 runs in that game while his partner Anamul Haque dismissed for a duck. As none of a batsmen cope up with Sri Lanka’s bowling attack, Mushfiqur Rahim managed to top score with 26 runs and Sabbir Rahman scored 10 runs. Those two were the only double-digit scorers in that game for Bangladesh. It’s was a wake up call for the home side which won all 3 matches and qualified for Final. Anamul Haque is in danger situation of throwing out his place to others. He must score runs to keep the place in the team. The experiences of Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan will play a big role in this home final. Shakib’s all-round efforts didn’t work well on Friday, but he will come with strong response with both bat and ball.

Bangladesh’s middle-order batsmen Mahmudullah, Nasir Hossain and Sabbir Rahman struggled to score runs throughout the series. This will be a good opportunity for them to overcome and regain their forms back. Bangladesh had play with an extra seam option of Abul Hasan on Friday. But, most probably he will give the place back to the left-arm spinner Sunzamul Islam. Three men pace attack of skipper Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman and Rubel Hossain will continue to take place once again. Nothing worked for the trio in the last game, but they did a great job in other 3 matches. So they have a job to do in this game. A well comeback performances are expected from the home team Bangladesh.

SRI LANKA :

A firing all around performances with both bat and bowl presented a place in the Final for Sri Lanka. After faced all the troubles in the series, Sri Lankan players responded so good in must win game on Friday. First, pace attack of Suranga Lakmal, Thisara Perera and Dushmantha Chameera dismantled Bangladesh’s batting unit, then after, the openers Upul Tharanga and Danushka Gunathilaka confirmed 10 wickets victory for their team. With that clean performances, Sri Lanka is expected to go with an unchanged XI in this big final match on Saturday. Gunathilaka played his first game in the series due to an injury to Kusal Perera and he played a good knock of an unbeaten 35 runs. Gunathilaka will keep his place in the XI and will open the innings again with Upul Tharanga. The experiences of Upul Tharanga has a huge role to play at top order on Saturday. He scored an unbeaten 35-balls 37 runs to regain his form back. There were no batting opportunities for Kusal Mendis and skipper Dinesh Chandimal on Friday. As both of them played a handy knocks against Zimbabwe, hopes for some more good performances from them on Saturday.

All rounder Asela Gunaratne struggled with a bat throughout the series. But still he hanging in the playing XI and he will keep the place in the Final too. Niroshan Dickwella will take care of wicket-keeper’s duties once again and also Sri Lanka needs him to play a big innings with bat too. The only all-round performer of Sri Lanka in the series, Thisara Perera was very impressive once again with a bowl on Friday. He added two more wickets to his wicket tally in the series. He is exceptional form and he has a role to play once again. Chameera back in the side due to Pradeep’s minor injury and he bowled well to claim 2 for 6 in 5 overs. If Pradeep is fit, Chameera may lose his place but have to wait and see. Akila Dananjaya didn’t bowl even a single over in that last match, which means there are some possibility for him to make a way for Pradeep once he is fit. Suranga Lakmal who remained wicket-less in three matches, back in form at time with 3 for 21 in 7 overs. He is a wicket taking bowler and the team reliable lot on his performances.
