After the enthralled first test match, India tour of South Africa continue with a second test in Centurion. The home team South Africa sealed a victory in the low-scoring test match in Cape Town earlier this week and will look to dominate the world no. 1 team with home advantage. At the same time, the visitors India will correct the errors they made and looks to level the series, so the entertainment assured for next 5 days. Second test match between South Africa vs India scheduled to start at 10 AM Local | 1:30 PM IST on Saturday, 13th January 2018.

The most senior batsmen AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis saved the team from biggest collapse on the first day of first test. ABD was the hero with the bat in both innings of a test. The experienced Hashim Amla failed to perform in both innings of a test match. The bowlers sealed a win for their team and presented a lead of 1-0 in the series. All four pacers had done it well with a bowl, especially Vernon Philander’s 9 wickets in the test and also some important runs with a bat helped the team in high time. Dale Steyn’s injury was the backstep for the home side, but rest of the bowlers fulfilled his place with their quality bowling. Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram had failed with a bat in first innings, but both openers managed to score some runs in the second innings. They will retains their places in the opening slot. Hashim Amla had a poor test match after so long time at home soil. The class batsman is expected to be back with big runs in this game. AB de Villiers who changed the course of the game on the first day of the test with counter attack, will be more dangerous at his home ground in Centurion. Fantasy players must have him in their teams.

Skipper Faf du Plessis returned from injury and made a mark straightaway with much needed 62 runs in the first innings. He departed for duck in second innings, but he could score lot of runs in this test at his home ground. It’s a home ground for Quinton de Kock as well. De Kock struggles for his batting form for past two months. He scored handy 40+ runs in the first test, but he deserves more runs. Absence of Dale Steyn, opens the gate for rest of the fast bowlers in the side. Lungi Ngidi and Duanne Olivier has been added to squad for a second test. They have to compete along with Chris Morris and Andile Phehlukwayo for the one spot. Based on the experiences at this ground, the hometown bowlers Chris Morris and Lungi Ngidi are front-runners to grab the vacant place. Kagiso Rabada, the bowling sensation of South Africa did his part well with both bat and bowl. He has taken a tally of 5 wickets in that game and also scored very useful 26 runs in the first innings. Only specialist spinner in the squad Keshav Mahara didnt get much of opportunity to bowl but he shined with lower order batting.  Morne Morkel has picked 2 wickets each in both inning of first test and he will keep his place safe for this game. Vernon Philander had a tally of 9 wickets and he is expected to use all his experiences at home to pick more wickets in this game.

Team India’s bowlers worked so hard and almost took a team to historical victory in the first test. But an average batting display in both innings collapsed everything for the visitors. There were so much of debates after the first test regarding the exclusion of KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane in the first test. Both of them have a proved a lot in overseas conditions in the past, but they were sidelined on the expense of in-form batsmen Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma. As both Shikhar and Rohit faced lot of struggles in the first game, chances are heavy for Rahul and Rahane to be back in the XI. If not both of them, at least one among them will be in the playing XI. Based on Virat Kohli’s latest interview, India will make a decision on opening combination on match day morning. Shikhar Dhawan’s place doubtful at the moment, also Parthiv Patel may come into the equation to fulfill left and right handed opening combination of India. Murali Vijay didn’t perform upto the mark in neither of innings in the first test. The test specialist opener has lot of things to prove to safe his place in the XI. Cheteshwar Pujara, the specialist no. 3 batsman, had faced 92 balls in the first innings. But in the second innings he departed so early for 4 runs. He has to prove that he could bat well outside sub-continent too, therefore amount of pressure on Pujara right now.

Skipper Virat Kohli gave a shock to all Indian supporter when he dismissed for only 5 runs in the first innings. He tried hard in the second innings, but those weren’t enough for the team success. The masterclass batsman in need to score plenty of runs in this test to save the series. Rahane has a chance to be in the XI, but it’s 50/50 at the moment. Rohit Sharma, the in-form batsman in limited overs cricket struggled against the red-ball. He has a chance to retain his place, once he get a second chance hopefully, will come with some good knocks. Hardik Pandya’s heroics with a bat in the first innings and bowling performances in the second innings helped the team to be on the contest. He deserves a place for this game and will show an impressive performances once again. Ravi Ashwin is expected to retain the place as only specialist spinner and he also capable of scoring some important runs at lower-middle-order. Three men pace attack of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Bumrah and Shami worked out well in the last test. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has claimed six wickets in 2 innings of first test while Bumrah and Shami picked 4 each. All three of them deserves a place in the XI, hopefully, India will not do changes in pace attack.
