RAM SLAM T20 – MATCH 23 – DOLPHINS VS LIONS – FANTASY PREVIEW

The on-going Ram Slam T20 Challenge has reached the final week of league stage matches and the busiest week start with the match between Dolphins and Lions who are at 3rd and 5th place in the points table respectively. The weather Durban is not promising and will play a big role once again. Match 23 between Dolphins vs Lions scheduled to begin at 6 PM Local | 9:30 PM IST on Wednesday, 6th December 2017.

DOLPHINS :

Dolphins are frustrated as they yet to play a full game at their home. Four out of 7 matches were washed out due to rain and three among them were their home matches. Dolphins sits at no. 3 with 12 points, they have won 1, lost 2 and 4 were no-results. Dolphins faced a narrow defeat in the margin of just 1 run against Warriors on Sunday. Robbie Frylinck’s hat-trick went in vein when the team finished with 1 run short. Dolphins not yet announced their squad for this home game but we are expecting them to play with an unchanged squad on Wednesday. Sarel Erwee didn’t fire against Warriors and dismissed for 8 runs. But his opening partner, the veteran Morne van Wyk played a sensible innings and scored a handy 57 runs off 44 balls. It was his second straight innings of over 40 runs. Vaughn van Jaarsveld who played a game with lot of responsibility on his back, dismissed for duck on the second ball. But we could not judge him with that one poor performance, he has all ability to come back strong in the next game.

Both middle-order batsmen Khaya Zondo and Dane Vilas had a bad day against Warriors. Captain Zondo managed to score only a run while the wicket-keeper Vilas dismissed for 3. Both of them are good players and they could change the game at any moment. So keep them in your fantasy teams. The all-rounder Sibonelo Makhanya got an opportunity to bat in the last game and he utilized the chance by scoring much needed 33 runs off 24 balls. He already played 40+ knock in the game against Lions. The power-hitting all-rounder Robbie Frylinck finally had a good day with a bowl and picked 3 for 15 in 3 overs. He picked those 3 wickets in the name of hat-trick against Warriors on Sunday and he also scored 25 off 19 balls in the end but those weren’t enough to cross the line for Dolphins. The useful all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo had an average day with a bat and bowl against Warriors. He claimed 1 for 37 and scored only 4 runs at crucial stage of the game. Keshav Maharaj was impressive with his spell of 1 for 24 in 4 overs and he also scored quicky 13 off 5 balls in the end. Imran Tahir shut down all the expectation with the poor spell of none for 33 in 3 overs. The world class bowler will come back hard in this game and trust him by keeping him in your team. Mthokozisi Shezi was the other bowler in the team and he surprised all with 3 wickets haul in the last game.

LIONS :

Lions are currently at 5th place in the points table with 2 wins, 3 losses and 2 no results (12 points). Their last two matches were ended in no results due to rain. In the last completed match, Lions lost to Warriors by 4 wickets. Lions never reveals their 14-man squad but chances are high for them to play with an unchanged XI which played in the rain affected game against Knights on last Friday. The openers Reeza Hendricks and Rassie van der Dussen were in good touch and produced positive start for Lions in almost every game. Reeza Hendricks scored over 300 runs in the season with an average over 100. He is the in-form batsman in Lions side and we might witness one more scintillating knock from him in this game. Rassie van der Dussen also did his part well with a scores of 57, 51 and 45 runs in his last 3 innings. The young Ryan Rickelton made a name for himself by scoring 41 off just 23 balls on his Ram Slam debut last week. He will keep his place in the XI and quite possibly will bat at no. 3 one more time. Wicket-keeper Mangaliso Mosehle is expected to play a key role for Lions on Wednesday night. He didn’t get much of opportunity to bat long in recent matches. But he has a chance to play a good knock in this game.

Omphile Ramela will bat in the middle-order, he is not an explosive batsman but he used to play sensible knocks at times. All-rounder Dwaine Pretorius was back in the side for the last game against Knights and he is expected to be in the XI on Wednesday as well. The young all rounder Willem Mulder does his part well in the tournament for Lions. He used to bowl good overs with wickets and also useful with a bat in lower middle-order. The spin bowler Bjorn Fortuin came back to the XI in the rain affected game against Knights and claimed one for 25 in his quota of 4 overs. He may play another key role in the game against Dolphins. Captain Aaron Phangiso is one of the experienced and key bowler in the unit. He did a good job till now in the tournament and hopes for one more good spell from him in this must win game. The world class pacer Kagiso Rabada is the best among all in the squad. He claimed 3 for 25 against Warriors and bowled 2 economical overs against Knights. No wonder if Rabada shines with bowl and also with a bat on Wednesday. Hardus Viljoen is the other bowler who had played plenty of matches for Lions over the years and has an impressive records behind him. He also capable of bowling wicket taking spells and a key player too.
