After faced a disappointing and disastrous defeat in the first ODI, woken up Team India set to face Sri Lanka in the 2nd match of three-match series in Mohali on Wednesday. Sri Lanka broken it’s 12-match losing streak with that stunning win in Dharamsala on Sunday. Will Sri Lanka take an advantage and grab the series 2-0? or Will the host come back strong and level the series? Second ODI between India vs Sri Lanka scheduled to start at 11:30 AM Local | 6 AM GMT on Wednesday, 13th December 2017.

Virat Kohli less Team India struggled a lot in the first two hours of Sunday’s game. Losing 7 wickets for 29 runs in 19 overs, not an easy thing to forget or come out of it quick. But, Rohit Sharma led-side in a position to re-group quickly and should level the series to keep the series alive. The most experienced MS Dhoni was the only one who scored runs for India in that first game. Tailander Kuldeep Yadav scored 19 off 25 balls and that was the second highest score in the innings. Both experienced openers Shikhar Dhawan and captain Rohit Sharma had a tough day in the middle. Dhawan dismissed without scoring a run in the last game, he need to be back in form for this clash in Mohali. He was in very good form for months now, hopefully, he will come with some fine innings which can give you satisfactory fantasy points. Rohit Sharma has a huge amount of responsibility on his shoulders right now as he leads the team in the series. He managed to score only 2 runs off 13 balls other day. He should find a way to score runs and must bring back the form which he had in test series recently. Dropping Ajinkya Rahane created so many issues after those collapses on Sunday.

The experienced Rahane was in bad shape during test series, but his experience will come into play once he steps at no. 3 and fill the gap of Kohli. Rahane has a chance to replace either Manish Pandey or Dinesh Karthik in this game. Shreyas Iyer, the debutant in ODIs stood in the middle for long time and scored 9 off 27 balls. It wasn’t a fine debut atmosphere for him other day. So much of pressure on him and he could not play his natural game. Hopes for a second chance for the future star. Manish Pandey and Dinesh Karthik both were in poor form. Manish struggled in all recent matches he played against Australia and New Zealand. He may go to bench for this game. Dinesh Karthik who generally play well at no. 4 in limited overs cricket struggled other day and dismissed for duck on 18th ball he faced. MS Dhoni was the only savior of the team who scored 65 off 87 balls and he took the team from 29/7 to 112 runs. On the absence of Kohli, Dhoni’s responsibilities has been increased and no wonder if he comes to bat at no. 4 on Wednesday. All-rounder Hardik Pandya started well in that high-pressure situation, smashed two fours in quick time but he walked back for 10 runs off 10 balls. While defending the low score, he conceded 39 runs in 5 overs and claimed 1 wicket. Hardik may learnt his lesson in the first game, the exciting all-rounder is expected to come with better performances this time.

As India struck with only 5 bowling options on Sunday, teenage all-rounder Washington Sundar has a chance to make his international debut on Wednesday. The off-break left-handed batsman in stunning form at the moment and he will make an impressive debut if he gets a chance. Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal didn’t get a chance to bowl in that last game. Kuldeep shined somehow with a bat and scored much needed 19 runs at crucial stage. It’s a new day and we can expect a match winning show from Indian spinners. Both front-line pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah lost their wickets for 0 run respectively. With a bowl, both of them tried their best but as they were defended very easily chaseable target, they could not win the game for their team. The in-form bowlers may come with an exciting spells in Mohali. As Axar Patel played lot of matches at Mohali for Kings XI Punjab, some sore of chances for him to replace Kuldeep in the XI.

Sri Lankans are highly boosted and they definitely feel relief after broken down 12-match losing streak with 7 wickets win against India in India. The brand new captain Thisara Perera didn’t done much but his team members has done a great job and presented him a successive victory. Suranga Lakmal nailed over with his amazing seam bowling along with former captain Angelo Mathews in the first power-play. Sri Lanka continued their dominance all through the innings and bowled 13 maiden overs on Sunday. Batters did a good job when they chased a easy target of 114 runs. Mathews has back to his full strength and shined with both bat and bowl. There is no need of shuffling the winning combination of the team, that means Sri Lanka expected to take field with an unchanged XI for this game. Danushka Gunathilaka made his return after suspended for last few matches and he dismissed for only 1 run other day. He is a good player and he deserve a second chance.

The experienced Upul Tharanga just carry forwarded his form in BPL to the last game and scored well made 49 off 46 balls. If Sri Lanka makes any change in their playing XI then that could be Lahiru Thirimanne who continued to be in poor form. He walked back without disturbing the scores in the first game. Batting all-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva has a bright chance to replace Thirimanne on Wednesday. The experienced all-rounder Angelo Mathews raised many eyebrows with his comeback bowling spell on Sunday. He bowled 5 overs and claimed 1 for 8 runs which includes 2 maiden overs too. He also scored 25 with a bat and remained not out. Wicket Keeper Niroshan Dickwella used to open the innings in ODIs, but he came in middle-order in the last game. He will possibly continue at that same position in the batting order. Remember he is the most in-form batsman of Sri Lanka for past several months. Batting all-rounder Asela Gunaratne was back in the squad after recovered from injuries. He strengthen middle-order batting and the explosive player has the ability to score runs quickly.

Captain Thisara Perera had a poor day with the ball on Sunday. He managed to claim a wicket of MS Dhoni in his 5th over, but he conceded at 6.69 runs per over when his teammates bowled around less than 2 per over. Thisara Perera is the well known all-rounder and he could come with an impressive all-round performance in this game. Spinners Akila Dananjaya and Sachith Pathirana both have done their part well. Akila picked 1 wicket in his 5 overs and he conceded only 7 runs. Pathirana claimed 1 for 16 in his short 4 overs spell. Both of them deserves to be in the XI and will play key role for their team once again. Man of that match Suranga Lakmal rocked Indian batting order with his accurate pace bowling. He claimed 4 wickets for an unbelievable 13 runs in 10 overs. His partner Nuwan Pradeep made his return with the impressive spell of 2 for 37 in 10 overs and the important point could be both Lakmal and Pradeep had bowled 4 maiden overs each. The strong bowling display will make the management to go with same bowling attack again.
