TITANS :

The defending champions continue their domination in the ongoing season with 4 consecutive wins. Their match against Dolphins was abandoned due to rain and with that they are at top of the table with 21 points. Titans has made few changes to their squad ahead of the clash against Lions. Aiden Markram rested for this game while Dale Steyn is continuing with the next stage of rehabilitation in Cape Town which made him ruled out. Top order batsman Quinton de Kock also rested for this fixture. Captain Albie Morkel could possibly miss the game who was unwell on Tuesday. All-rounder Chris Morris all set to play his first match of the season after recovered from back injury. Titans also has Dean Elgar, Tony de Zorzi and Shaun von Berg in their 14-man squad. On the absence of Quinton de Kock, Henry Davids is expected to open the innings along with Dean Elgar. Wicket-keeper replacement Heinrich Klaasen also has a chance to open the innings. If Klaasen open the innings with Davids, then Elgar will bat at no. 3 against Lions.

AB de Villiers and Farhaan Behardien will follow at their regular positions 4 and 5. Keeps an eye on both ABD and Behardien – both of them are expected to muscle their fire-power in the batsman friendly Johannesburg track on Wednesday night. As per Titans official website, their captain Albie Morkel is doubtful for this game. In case of Morkel is not playing, then Titans will play with both all-rounders Chris Morris and David Wiese. If Morkel is fit to play, slight chances for Wiese to warm the bench tonight. The handy leg-spinner Shaun von Berg is in the squad, but he has to wait for his turn in the tournament. Malusi Siboto will keep his place in the XI as he bowled decently well in recent matches. Lungi Ngidi will be the key bowler for Titans who already claimed 7 wickets in 4 innings. Chris Morris will join the attack and we all know what he can offer in T20 cricket. Junior Dala is one of the regular member of Titans lineup but he picked only 1 wicket in 4 innings this season. Left-arm spinner Tabraiz Shamsi did a great job with his controlled spells. He claimed a tally of 5 wickets in 4 innings and almost bowled under 6 runs per over in each match.

LIONS :

The Bizhub Highveld Lions side started the season with a heavy defeat against Titans. Then they came back strong and registered two consecutive wins. But in the last two matches, Lions ended up on losing side against Cobras and Warriors respectively. Lions top order looks strong with their openers Rassie van der dussen and Reeza Hendricks. The experienced Rassie van der Dussen contributed with the scores of 57, 51 and 45 runs in last 3 innings respectively. His partner Reeza Hendricks is at his form of his career where he tops the leader board of most runs scorer at the moment with 308 runs in 5 innings. The 28-years old smashed 67*, 42, 102*, 27 and 81 runs respectively in 5 innings. These two needs to play well against the strong bowling attack of Titans tonight. The new comer Ryan Rickelton made a name with 41 off 23 balls on his Ramslam debut other day. Its going to be a tough outing for him as he faces the best attack in the tournament. Lions uses Omphile Ramela in middle-order but in the last game there was no required of Ramela’s batting. He will keep the place in the XI and no assurance for a good knock from him. Wicket-keeper Mangaliso Mosehle has played his 100th T20 game on Sunday. He scored one half-century in the tournament so far, hopes for some good innings from him tonight.

The experienced all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius was dropped for the game against Warriors, after he shown very average performances in previous matches. The bowling all-rounder might be back in the XI for this crucial game. Marques Ackermann replaced Nicky van der Bergh in the last game and he is expected to continue in the XI for this game as well. Young all-rounder Willem Mulder bowled well in first 4 matches, but he went for 0/39 in 3 overs against Warriors. Still he is expected to keep his place safe in the XI and chances are high for him to come back with 2 or more wickets in this game. The leader of the bowling attack Kagiso Rabada will play the mighty role in this clash tonight. He claimed 8 wickets in 5 matches and the team needs him to bowl well at this batsmen friendly Johannesburg pitch. Once again Beuran Hendricks brought back into the XI and once again he conceded 12+ runs per over. Those poor bowling effort will cause him a place in the XI and Bjorn Fortuin could be the possible replacement. Captain Aaron Phangiso has a key role to play with his left-arm spin in this game. He has 5 wickets in a kitty after played first 5 matches and used to bowl economical spells quite often for the team. Hardus Viljoen is other notable bowler in Lions squad. He claimed 4 wickets in 4 matches this season, hopes for 2 or more wickets from him on Wednesday night.
