Bangladesh Premier League – season 5 is set to host another double-header in Sylhet on Wednesday. In the first clash of the day, Rangpur Riders will face Chittagong Vikings. Rangpur Riders started their season with 6 wickets victory over Rajshahi Kings while Chittagong Vikings season started with a loss on Tuesday. Match 7 between Rangpur Riders vs Chittagong Vikings is scheduled to start at 2 PM Local | 1:30 PM IST on Wednesday, 8th November 2017.

Bangladesh’s limited overs captain Mashrafe Mortaza leads Rangpur Riders this year and his team started the season with a positive win. Skipper Mortaza led from the front in that match against Rajshahi Kings and claimed 1 for 18 runs in his 4 overs spell. Except Rubel Hossain, other two Bangladeshi bowlers in the XI Nazmul Islam and Sohag Gazi also done their part well with a ball. Sri Lankan duo Lasith Malinga and Thisara Perera conceded lots of runs in the last game. But Thisara has done his part with a bat and finished the game in style for Riders. With a decent batting of Mohammad Mithun, Shahriar Nafees and Ravi Bopara, Rangpur Riders chased down target easily in their first game against Kings. Riders opened the innings with two overseas players Johnson Charles and Adam Lyth. Both players failed to score runs, Adam Lyth dismissed for a golden duck while Charles added only 9 runs to his credit. After that poor show by the openers, Riders might do a change in the opening combination. As Brendon McCullum still not available, Sam Hain or Samiullah Shenwari has a chance to included in the XI. In case Shenwari makes his way to the playing XI, then Mohammad Mithun will possibly open an innings with Charles.

Mithun handles wicket-keeper duties along with batting at the top-order. He had a good day against Kings where he shined with 46 off 33 balls with 3 sixes and a boundary. He used to play well in past seasons of BPL, now he continues his good BPL form once again. No surprise if he plays another good knock on Wednesday afternoon. Middle-order batsman Shahriar Nafees scored 35 runs off 34 balls other day. His strike-rate was just over 100, but his performances in previous years clear him as a key player. He scored a mighty hundred in the BPL season last year. The experienced overseas all-rounders Ravi Bopara and Thisara Perera fulfill Riders middle-order. Bopara slammed 39 off just 23 balls which rewarded him with Man of the Match award on last Saturday. He is not only capable with a bat, he also capable of taking crucial wickets with his part-time bowling. Sri Lanka’s Thisara Perera had a bad day with a ball, but he adjusted that with his 12 balls 20 runs later in the day. The talented all-rounder is known for his power-hitting skills in middle-order and picks wickets with his medium-pace bowling.

Captain Mashrafe Mortaza, Rubel Hossain and Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga were the three pacers used in the first game. Mortaza lived up to the expectations and claimed a wicket for 18 runs in his 4 overs. He may come with another economical spell in this game on Wednesday. It was Malinga’s first competitive game in two months time. He picked two crucial wickets but conceded at 8.50 runs per over in his spell. He will keep his place on the side and hopes for lot better performances from the veteran fast bowler. Rubel Hossain was the expensive bowler of Riders against Kings. He conceded 43 runs in four overs and remained wicket-less. But while considering his recent performance on South Africa tour, Rubel deserved a second chance in this game. In case Riders drops Rubel, either Ziaur Rahman or Abdur Razzak would come in the XI. Ziaur Rahman is a quality all-rounder who could score quickly and also pick wickets in middle-overs. Sohag Gazi and Nazmul Islam has done their part well in spin department. Gazi bowled only a over, hopefully, will bowl more overs in this game. Nazmul was very impressive with a spell of 2 for 20 in 4 overs. He is expected to bowl one more good spell on Wednesday.

Middle-order collapse and an expensive bowling caused the opening match of the season for Chittagong Vikings. An impressive batting by Luke Ronchi and Soumya Sarkar efforts in vain after that collapses in middle and lower order batting. Former captain of Pakistan Misbah-ul-Haq is the captain of Chittagong Vikings this year and he could be disappointed with his own performances on Tuesday. Subashis Roy was the only bowler who claimed wickets Vikings in that game. Part-timer Sikandar Raza bowled a decent spell, but rest of the bowlers went very expensive. The regular opener of Bangladesh Soumya Sarkar opened the innings with power-hitting Luke Ronchi. Both the openers added 63 for the first wicket in the inside power-play overs. It was a booming start for Vikings when Ronchi smashed the ball all over the park in Sylhet. He scored quick-fire 40 off just 21 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. He is expected to play similar innings on Wednesday too. Actually, we can expect much better performance from him against Riders.

Soumya Sarkar gave a good company to Ronchi and scored a decent 38 off 33 balls. He may explode with quick runs against Riders. Dilshan Munaweera wasted an opportunity by scoring at strike-rate of below 100. Some sort of chances for him to make a way for Afghan’s Najibullah Zadran who capable of scoring runs quickly in middle-order. There were a lot of expectations on Anamul Haque, but he has thrown away his wicket for just 3 runs. He is one of the important domestic players and he will get a game on Wednesday. Hopes for runs from Anamul this time around. Captain Misbah and Luis Reece also failed to take a momentum which created by the openers. Misbah scored only 6 while Reece scored 9 runs. Luis Reece may get a second chance as he offers useful part-time spell of bowling.

Zimbabwe batting all-rounder Sikandar Raza deserved to come up in the order who batted at no.7 in the first game. He scored 18 runs off 12 balls in the end stage of the innings, if he comes at 5 or 6 will score more runs in this game. He also bowled a decent spell of 0 for 17 in 3 overs. Suhrawadi Shuvo and Sunzamul Islam were the two specialist spinners used by Vikings on Tuesday. Both of them have bowled too expensive spells and remained wicket-less too. If Vikings go for a change in the spin department, Tanbir Hayder would be a choice for them. He is capable of scoring runs as well. There won’t be any wonder if Vikings add 17-years old off-spinner Nayeem Hasan in the XI. The front-line pacer in the squad, Taskin Ahmed bowled at 12 runs per over against Victorians. He is in need to come back strongly and quickly on Wednesday. His partner Subashis Roy has done a good job with 2 for 24 in his 3.2 overs. He will be the key bowler of Vikings in the season and keep him on your fantasy teams as well.
