BPL – MATCH 33 – CHITTAGONG VIKINGS VS RAJSHAHI KINGS – FANTASY PREVIEW

Two teams at the bottom of the table of the on-going Bangladesh Premier League, Chittagong Vikings and Rajshahi Kings eyes on moving forward by winning the clash on Wednesday. Chittagong Vikings play-off chances were almost shut already while Rajshahi Kings still has a chance if they win all remaining games with good NRR. Match 33 between Chittagong Vikings vs Rajshahi Kings is scheduled to start at 1 PM Local | 12:30 PM IST on Wednesday, 29th November 2017.

CHITTAGONG VIKINGS :

Only 2 wins out of 9 matches keep Chittagong Vikings at bottom of the table. As they have only 3 more matches to play in the league round, Vikings are on the verge of elimination. But Luke Ronchi led-side has a chance to finish the tournament in better position by winning all of their remaining matches. The clash against Rajshahi Kings will be Vikings last home game of the season and this would be their opportunity to finish the home games with positive note. Vikings lost their last two of their home matches in last few days. In both of those matches, Vikings posted a strong totals of over 170 runs. But the poor bowling attack kept them on losing side. The big plus for the team is captain Luke Ronchi’s form at top of the order. The veteran scored another half-century on Monday. Anamul Haque, finally proved his worth in the XI by scoring 73 off 47 balls against Dynamites. Bangladeshi opener and Icon player of the team, Soumya Sarkar has a mixed season this year. His strike-rate would be the worrying part of Vikings at top of the order. South Africa’s Stiaan van Zyl contributes well in middle-order, except the last game on Monday. Vikings might have one forced change in their XI on Wednesday. As all Afghan players are going back home for national duties, Najibullah Zadran may not be available for this game.

Sikandar Raza smashed 95 off 45 balls against Sixers last Friday. He also contributes with decent knocks in other matches too. He is useful with his part-time off-spin as well. New sign-in West Indies all-rounder Rayad Emrit played his first match of the season on Monday. He started the season with 1 for 24 in 3 overs. We have seen his potential in Caribbean Premier League seasons, hopefully he will come with match winning performances for Vikings on Wednesday. The Iconic local bowler Taskin Ahmed’s expensive spells are most worrying part of Vikings bowling attack. Taskin picked 12 wickets in 8 appearances but he went expensive in almost every innings. In last matches, he picked 1 for 38 and 1 for 35 respectively. Vikings needs him to bowl better economical spell with wickets on Wednesday. Vikings stuck with local bowlers like Al-Amin, Tanbir Hayder and Sunzamul Islam. Sometimes they use Subashis Roy too. The biggest problem is they don’t have quality overseas bowler in the squad. Slight chances for Suhrawadi Shuvo or Alauddin Babu to be named in the XI against Kings on Wednesday. If Najibullah Zadran not available, either Dilshan Munaweera or Luis Reece will replace him in this clash.

RAJSHAHI KINGS :

The runners-up of last season Rajshahi Kings has only 3 wins after played 9 matches this season. With only 6 points Kings sitting just ahead of their opposition Vikings in the points table at the moment. The stunning victory over Comilla Victorians on last Saturday opened the doors for Kings in the season. But they gone back to losing side when they lost to Khulna Titans by huge 68 runs margin on Monday. The famous Bangladesh bowler Mustafizur Rahman regained fitness and played for Kings in last two matches. But unfortunately, he wasn’t at his best and went too expensive. Kings brought in Kesrick Williams on the expense of Dwayne Smith in the last game. But as Lendl Simmons was back in nets, he should replaced Smith other night. If Dwayne Smith is not available once again on Wednesday, chances are high for Simmons to get a game. Mominul Haque provides a decent start for Kings as an opener while Luke Wright is in good form except for his dismissal for 1 run in the last game. Rony Talukdar who started the season with blistering half-century, struggled innings after innings since that. Finally, he brought back some sort of form in the last game and scored useful 36 off 23 balls. He may keep his place safe in the XI for this game. Young Zakir Hasan started well in the last two matches but unfortunately he dismissed for 20 and 19 runs respectively. Big innings is not far away from him, hopefully, he will muscles some big hits on Wednesday. It was not a good outing for Mushfiqur Rahim in last two games. The test captain of Bangladesh bats at no. 5, if he comes at bit up in the order, that will help him to score good runs for the team.

All-rounder James Franklin started well with a bowl against Titans other night. He claimed 3 wickets in that game, but in the end he finished with 3 for 50 in 4 overs. He was not at his best with a bat too in last few matches. He needs to bring all-round performances to ensure a victory for the team. Captain Darren Sammy had one good game in the season and that was against Comilla Victorians on last Saturday. Except that one knock, Sammy hadn’t done anything for Kings this year. As a captain he needs to step-up and play match winning knock for the team. Mehidy Hasan was bowled well in half-way of the tournament, but he didn’t bowl well in last few games. He contributed with 29 off 23 balls against Titans on Monday. But the teams needs the youngster to claim more wickets in power-play overs. After bowled 4 for 9 in 4 overs against Victorians, Mohammad Sami came with the spell of 1 for 22 in 4 overs against Titans. He was struggling to get rhythm right in first few matches, but he is at his best right now. He will be one of the worthy pick for Fantasy players. Kesrick Williams’ bad outing continued when he conceded none for 46 in 4 overs against Titans on Monday. He has plenty of chances to be drop for this game. The most trustable Bangladesh bowler Mustafizur Rahman failed to impress with wickets and bowled an expensive spell. But as he is the best bowler in the country, Kings will continue to play him on Wednesday. Remember he is one of the best quickie in the world now and he has all capabilities be back with stunning performances.
