Bangladesh’s own franchises based T20 league, Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2017 season schedule to begin on 4th November. This year tournament contains 42 league matches and 4 knock-out matches. Initially eight teams were expected to feature in the tournament with the newly joined franchise Sylhet Sixers, but Barisal Bulls have been banned few months ago because of payment issues. Seven teams are participating in the tournament and let see squad information of all teams.



The defending champions Dhaka Dynamites will play under the captaincy of Shakib al Hasan once again. The well mixed of international players and local talents are the strength of Dynamites. T20 specialist around the world like Kieron Pollard, Shahid Afridi, Sunil Narine, Shane Watson and Kevon Cooper are all on the list of Dhaka Dynamites squad.

The legend of Sri Lanka cricket, Kumar Sangakkara retains his place in Dynamites squad. Pakistan speedster Mohammad Amir, West Indies Evin Lewis and Rovman Powell, England’s Joe Denly, South Africa’s Cameron Delport and Zimbabwe’s Graeme Cremer are other international players in the squad.

Apart from those bunch of International players, Bangladesh local players also strengthening Dynamites squad. Mosaddek Hossain, Saqlain Sajib, Mehedi Maruf, Abu Hider Rony, Mohammad Shahid, Jahurul Islam and Nadif Chowdhury are notable Bangladesh own players in the list of Dhaka Dynamites squad.

The champions of 2015, Comilla Victorians had a tough season last year and finished at bottom second in the points table. After last year collapses, Comilla Victorians are set to play with new captain and refreshing squad. Tamim Iqbal initially named as icon player, but after his injury in the on-going South Africa tour doubts his availability for the season.

Comilla Victorians also has a list of talented international players in their squad. Pakistan’s veteran batting all rounder Shoaib Malik, West Indies Marlon Samuels, Darren Bravo are in Victorians squad. After T20 Global League postponed, Victorians got a big fish in the T20 cricket world Dwayne Bravo and he will play for the franchise this season. Famous Afghanistan duo Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan are playing for Comilla Victorians this year.

England’s power-hitting wicket keeper Jos Buttler, Pakistan’s pace unit Hasan Ali, Rumman Raees and Fahim Ashraf and Zimbabwe’s all rounder Solomon Mire are all to serve for Comilla Victorians in this year BPL season. Apart from that long international list, Comilla Victorians has a list familiar Bangladesh players in the squad as well. The players who are currently on South Africa tour, Imrul Kayes, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mohammad Saifuddin will play for Victorians along Arafat Sunny and Al-Amin Hossain.

Chittagong Vikings will be playing in their fifth season of the iconic Bangladesh Premier League. Bangladesh opening batsman Soumya Sarkar will lead the team in this year competition. Chittagong franchise has a list of talented players, but none of their international players are known as T20 specialist players around the world.

Pakistan’s former captain and the legend Misbha-ul-Haq all set to play for Vikings this year. Former Pakistan player Yasir Arafat, recently retired Luke Ronchi, Zimbabwe batting all rounder Sikandar Raza, England’s Liam Dawson, Luis Reece, Sri Lanka’s Jeevan Mendis and Afghanistan’s young Najibullah Zadran will serve for Vikings this year.

Soumya Sarkar is struggling for runs for long time now. He has to regain his form soon as he has plenty of responsibilities on his shoulders ahead of BPL season. Apart from him, Anamul Haque, Sunzamul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Subashis Roy, Tanbir Hayder and Irfan Sukkur are other important players from Bangaldesh.

Khulna Titans finished no. 2 in the points table and missed a chance to play final as they lost in Qualifier 2 on their very first season of BPL. Titans are ahead to play under the captaincy of all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad for a second straight year. The big name in T20 world for last 2 years, Australia’s Chris Lynn was traded to Titans but he was sidelined due to his shoulder injury.

West Indies T20 captain Carlos Brathwaite, Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed, South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw, Kyle Abbott, Pakistan’s Shadab Khan, Junaid Khan, Sri Lanka’s Seekkuge Prasanna, Snehan Jayasuriya, England’s Dawid Malan and Benny Howell are representing Khulna Titans this year under International players quota.

The local talents of Bangladesh, Shafiul Islam, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mosharraf Hossain, Abu Jayed, Ariful Haque, Muktar Ali and Dhiman Ghosh are a notable players in the squad.

The runner-up of last year, Rajshahi Kings will look for a glory this year which they missed in the final last year. This season of the Bangladesh Premier League will see the Rajshahi Kings being led by Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh’s captain in the longer format of the game. The big setback will be injuries of Muztafizur Rahman which sidelined him for atleast six weeks.

The well experienced in T20 format Darren Sammy is the part of Rajshahi Kings once again along with his country mates Lendl Simmons and Kesrick Williams. England’s Samit Patel, Luke Wright, New Zealand’s James Franklin, Zimbabwe’s Malcolm Waller, Pakistan’s veteran Mohammad Sami and Usama Mir are other international players who traded for Rajshahi Kings.

A notable players Bangladesh players are Farhad Reza, Zakir Hasan, Mominul Haque, Nihaduzzaman and Rony Talukdar. Rajshahi Kings will look for a good contribution from the domestic players during crunch games.

The captain of Bangladesh in One-day Internationals, Mashrafe Mortaza is expected to lead the Riders squad which will also have a fine mix of domestic and overseas players in the line-up. As Global T20 League was cancelled, Rangpur Riders signed big names in T20 cricket, Brendon McCullum and Chris Gayle.

Apart from McCullum and Gayle, Rangpur Riders has other well known international players in their squad too. They are such as Ravi Bopara, Thisara Perera, David Willey, Kusal Perera, Samuel Badree, Johnson Charles, Lasith Malinga, Samiullah Shenwari and Adam Lyth.

The domestic players of Bangladesh, Rubel Hossain, Mohammad Mithun, Abdur Razzak, Shahriar Nafees, Sohag Gazi, Ziaur Rahman, Zahir Khan are traded in Riders squad and they are expected to give their full efforts to take the team to win the title.

The Sylhet Sixers replaced the Sylhet Super Stars and rejoined the Bangladesh Premier League in the 2017-18 edition of the competition. Sri Lanka’s Upul Tharanga is expected to lead the Sylhet Sixers in this year BPL tournament. Pakistan batting sensation Babar Azam and England Liam Plunkett will be a major international trades for Sixers.

Sri Lankan players in current T20 squad against Pakistan, Chaturanga de Silva, Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga all will play for Sylhet Sixers. Pakistan’s Usman Khan, West Indies’ Krishmar Santokie, Andrew Fletcher, Andrew McCarthy and England’s Ross Whiteley are also in the squad of Sylhet Sixers.

Some of the other local players who will form a part of the Sylhet Sixers squad are Imtiaz Hossain, Nasir Hossain, Nurul Hasan, Abul Hasan, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Mohammad Sharif, Nabil Samad and Sharifullah, all of whom will hope to make it to the starting XI.
