West Indies cricket team visits Ireland to play one-off ODI ahead of five match ODI series against England. Cricket Ireland hosts this limited overs match at Civil Service Cricket Club in Belfast. The home team looking forward to play in this game as they needs to improve their confident level in One-day cricket. West Indies will take this game in serious note and prepare well ahead of the big series against England. The only ODI between Ireland vs West Indies is scheduled to start at 10:15 AM Local | 2:45 PM IST on Wednesday, 13th September 2017.



Regular captain of Ireland William Porterfield will lead Ireland team in this one-off ODI against West Indies. Ireland team has lot of experience players in their squad and also has well talented youngsters too. The all rounder Paul Stirling and wicket keeper batsman Niall O’Brien are returning to Ireland squad as they recovered from their respective injuries. In recent times, Ed Joyce used to open the innings along with Paul Stirling. William Porterfield batted at no. 3. Porterfield and Stirling were the best opening pair of Ireland, which means Porterfiled might come back into opening spot in this game. In that case Ed Joyce will bat at no. 3. Captain Porterfield use to play deep innings in ODIs, especially at home. Paul Stirling’s quick scoring ability and wicket taking skills would give you lot of fantasy points. Andrew Balbirnie is expected to bat at no. 4 in this match. Wicket keeper batsman Niall O’Brien was in mixed form throughout the season. He is well experienced player and remember his match winning performances against West Indies in World Cup 2015. He may bring that similar performances in this game.

The star all rounder Kevin O’Brien is expected to play huge role in this only ODI. He didn’t shine with a bat for long time now, hopefully he will come with an all round performances to assure a victory for his team. Another experienced wicket keeper batsman Gary Wilson is in the squad too. In recent times, Wilson used to bat at lower middle-order and his quick scoring skills helps him to finish an innings in good note. He is expected to do wicket keeper duties too. The 30-year old bowling all rounder Simi Singh retained his place in the squad. He bowled controlled spells in ODI matches against New Zealand back in May. The left-arm spinner George Dockrell has played plenty of cricket for Ireland and he has big role to play in this game. He is the only specialist spinner in Ireland squad and expects at least 2 or more wickets in his spell. The experienced pace bowlers Tim Murtagh and Boyd Rankin are the first choice bowlers for Ireland and they have a company of Peter Chase who are emerging well in ODI format.



On the tour of England, the Caribbean team lost the test series by 2-1. But, their victory in the second test took them into new level. That confident performances are expected to be back when they faces Ireland on Wednesday. The biggest boost for the team would be the arrival of experienced players Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels into the ODI squad. Jason Holder will lead the West Indies side once again in the limited overs format. As Chris Gayle is in the squad, the opening pair of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Evin Lewis and Chris Gayle will open the innings for West Indies. Both the power-hitters played several knocks for Patriots in the recently concluded CPL tournament. The Hope brothers, Kyle Hope and Shai Hope contributed well in the test series against England and also played good cricket against India in limited overs cricket 2 months ago. Shai Hope is the current hope of West Indies side who bats well in all formats at the moment. The wicket keeper batsman will play another key role in this game against Ireland.

The veteran batsman Marlon Samuels is back in the ODI squad after several months time. He was in average form during the CPL tournament, hopefully will play his best cricket on Wednesday. His part-time bowling also will give you more fantasy points. Jason Mohammed is the other specialist batsman in West Indies squad. All rounder Rovman Powell used to get regular chances in West Indies T20 squad, but he continuously overlooked in ODI format. This could be his chances to prove his all round skills in ODIs. Captain Jason Holder started to lead the team with lot of maturity in recent times. He also contributed with his individual performances in the series against India. Devendra Bishoo and Ashley Nurse are the two specialist spin bowlers in the squad. Both of them bowled good wicket taking spells in their home season, now its time for them to prove in overseas. The veteran bowler Jerome Taylor is back in West Indies ODI squad. After performing so good in T20 cricket, Kesrick Williams is expected to get enough chances in ODIs on this Europe tour.  Once he is in playing XI, he will play a key role for sure. Miguel Cummins and Alzarri Joseph are the other pacers in West Indies squad.
