Aus One-Day Cup


The busiest summer season of Cricket Australia begins with the entertaining and thrilling domestic one-day competition called ‘JLT One-Day Cup’. The traditional one-day cup reaches 49th year and as usual 6 state teams are competing along with Cricket Australia XI. All seven teams has announced their respective squads and the tournament kick-off on coming Wednesday, 27th September 2017.

New South Wales, Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia and Cricket Australia XI are the seven teams which participating in the tournament. We gives you the full squad list of each teams with small descriptions.



Cricket Australia XI squad is a collection of young talents around the country. The CA XI will feature players from all six state squads, including 4 players who have First-Class and List A experience, six players selected from 2017 National Performance squad and three youngsters from Australia U19 squad, named in the squad. Queensland’s fast bowler Mark Steketee and Tasmania all rounder Beau Webster are the most experienced members in CA XI squad. Jonathan Merlo, Max Bryant and Param Uppal are three U-19 players who features in the CA XI squad this year. Max Bryant, Jake Carder, Param Uppal and Beau Webster will take care of the batting while Mark Steketee, Jackson Coleman, Henry Thronton and David Grant would do the damages to the opposition with their bowling skills. Harry Neilson is the specialist wicket keeper in the squad. Jonathan Merlo, Clint Hinchliffe and Mac Wright are the players who are awaiting to provide all round performances for the team.

The champions of last two consecutive seasons, New South Wales Blues are geared up to for their title defense. NSW Blues are one of the strongest team in the competition and expectations are so high on this Sydney based state team. The squad has well mixed of young and experienced players which lead by the all rounder Sean Abbott. The well experienced fast bowler Doug Bollinger is expected to lead the pace attack on the absence of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins. Gurinder Sandhu, Harry Conway and Mickey Edwards are the other fast bowlers named in the squad. Australia’s test specialist, the off-spinner Nathan Lyon is going to play the big role for NSW Blues and he has a company of young Arjun Nair in spin department. Ed Cowan, Nic Maddinson, Daniel Hughes, Kurtis Patterson and Ryan Gibson are specialist batsmen named in NSW Blues squad, once Australia national team returns from India tour, captain Steven Smith, David Warner and other NSW players might play few matches in the tournament. Jay Lenton and Peter Nevill are the two specialist wicket keepers in this Blues squad.

QUEENSLAND (Queesland Bulls) :

The runner-up of last year, Queensland Bulls are awaiting to fulfill their desires of winning the title under the captaincy of Usman Khawaja. They came so close last year, but lost to NSW Blues in the Final. This year, they would focus of winning the title and Bulls has list of well talented players in the squad. The experienced internationals Usman Khawaja and Joe Burns will guide the batting unit which has Matt Renshaw, Marnus Labuschagne and Sam Heazlett. Also the batting all rounder Michael Neser will help the side with his all round skills. Jason Floros and Ben Cutting are other two all rounders in the squad. Cameron Gannon, Billy Stanlake, Jack Wildermuth and Brendan Doggett are in the squad who takes care of pace attack. The leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson is expected to play big role for Bulls this year. James Peirson will handle the wicket-keeper’s duties for Bulls.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA (West End Redbacks) :

The Adelaide origin, South Australia had a poor season last year when they finished at 6th in the points table. This year, South Australia’s West End Redbacks team all set to go under the captaincy of Callum Ferguson. The squad has number of inexperienced youngsters along with some experienced BBL players. The experienced batsman Callum Ferguson has a company of Tom Cooper, Jake Weatherald, Alex Ross and Jake Lehmann in the batting unit. Tom Cooper is capable of picking wickets with his part-time bowling too. The all rounder Cameron Valente who scored 300+ runs and picked 15 wickets last year, expected to play another key role this year and he has a company of Kelvin Smith in all rounders category. Joe Mennie is the most experienced bowler in this squad. The other bowlers are Daniel Worrall, Nick Winter, Chadd Sayers, Tom Andrews and Michael Cormack. The wicket keeper batsman Alex Carey will take care of gloves work behind the stumps.

TASMANIA (Tasmanian Tigers) :

The Former Australian captain George Bailey leads Tasmanian Tigers in this year JLT One-day Cup Tournament. After finishing at 5th place last year, Tasmania side eyes on comeback and turn the things on their favor. The experienced George Bailey has plenty of talented players in the squad. Five specialist batsmen are named in Tigers squad, including the captain George Bailey, Alex Doolan, Jordan Silk, Charlie Wakim and Ben McDermott. The power hitting wicket keeper batsman Ben Dunk is also in the squad to strengthen the top order batting. Jake Doran is the back-up wicket keeper in Tigers squad. Simon Milenko and young Tom Rogers are the specialist all rounders in the squad. The leg-spinner Cameron Boyce is the lone specialist spinner in the unit this year. The experienced Jackson Bird will lead the pace attack which contains Sam Rainbird, Andrew Fekete and the new comer Riley Meredith. Tim Paine, James Faulkner and Matthew Wade are the notable players who are misses out in Tigers squad due to national duties.

VICTORIA (Victorian Bushrangers) :

The veteran Cameron White will lead Commonwealth Bank Victorian Bushrangers side in this year tournament. Victoria has finished at 3rd position after lost to NSW Blues in the Elimination Final last year. Bushrangers has equal numbers of familiar and new faces in their squad. Cameron White has scored plenty of runs last year which includes two huge centuries. He has same amount of responsibilities this year too and expecting big performances from him. He has a company of batters Marcus Harris, Travis Dean, Blake Thomson and Will Pucovski in their batting unit. The well experienced John Hastings has big role to play as an all rounder while Matthew Short is the other all rounder in this squad. Two wicket keepers Sam Harper and Seb Gotch are named in Bushrangers squad. Peter Siddle will lead the pace attack in the tournament. Chris Tremain and Scott Boland are other notable fast bowlers in Victoria’s side. Jon Holland, the left arm spinner has to play good impact role for Bushrangers this year.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA (Western Warriors) :

Alcohol.Think Again Western Warriors is the team name of Western Australia. The young all rounder Mitchell Marsh who played lot of cricket for Australia national side in past few years, returned back from injuries and leads Western Warriors squad in the competition. Mitch has played very big role for Warriors in past seasons, hopefully he will perform as an individual also as captain this year. Western Warriors squad has Mitch Marsh’s brother Shaun Marsh, Michael Klinger, Jonathan Wells and Will Bosisto as the specialist batsmen while the wicket keeper batsman Cameron Bancroft would help the side with runs too. Josh Inglis will play the role of back-up wicket keeper in this one month long tournament. The power-hitting D’Arcy Short and Ashton Turner are an other all rounders in the squad. The experienced limited overs bowlers Andrew Tye will lead Western Warriors pace attack which has inexperienced bowlers like Jhye Richardson, David Moody, Simon Mackin and Matt Kelly. Western Australia misses bunch of players like Marcus Stoinis, Ashton Agar, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Jason Behardroff who are all involved in Australia’s current limited overs tour of India.

This tournament starts on September 27 with the first game between Cricket Australia XI vs South Australia at Brisbane. The Elimination Final will take place between the teams who finishes at 2nd and 3rd position in the points table, on 19th October. The Final match scheduled to play on 21st October 2017.
