SRI LANKA :

Suspensions and injuries affected Sri Lankan team during the on-going ODI series and more injury concerns are ahead of the 4th ODI as Chandimal has been ruled out for rest of the matches. Also the stand-in captain Chamara Kapugedera has been ruled out for the 4th ODI with back injury. The experienced pacer Lasith Malinga will lead the team in this match on Thursday. The opener Danushka Gunathilaka undergoes fitness test ahead of 4th ODI to determine whether he can play or not. Dhananjaya de Silva and Dilshan Munaweera added to the squad as a cover. While look out batting performances on all those three ODIs, middle-order and lower order batsmen failed to capitalize the starts which provided by the top four in the batting order. In the first ODI, Gunathilaka, Dickwella and Kusal Mendis gave a good start to Sri Lanka. But due to collapse in the middle-order, Sri Lanka bowled out for 216 runs. In the second ODI, Kapugedera and Siriwardene fought hard in the middle-order and took their team to some decent total of 236 for 8 in 50 overs. Then, once again middle-order collapse made them to finish with 217 for 9 in the 3rd ODI on last Sunday. Lahiru Thirimanne and Chandimal added 72 runs for the 3rd wicket, but other batsmen did not capitalize the momentum in that game. Among bowling unit, with Akila Dhananjaya’s heroic in second game, Sri Lanka had some chance of winning. But as other bowlers failed to pick wickets, Sri Lanka lost that game and other 2 games as well.

The wicket keeping opener Niroshan Dickwella has huge role to play at top of the order as the team facing lot of injury issues. Dickwell batted well in first 2 matches and scored 64 and 31 runs respectively. He misfired in the last game, but expecting him to come with big scores on Thursday. If Gunathilaka clears fit for this game, he will take back his place at top of the order. In case, Gunathilaka has been ruled out, then Lahiru Thirimanne might open the innings with Dickwella. Thirimanne played his first ODI in the season and top scored for Sri Lanka in the last game by scoring 80 runs off 105 balls. It was a notable come back of him and that might help him to explore his batting skills once again. Kusal Mendis batting talents fades away match after match. He struggles to score runs in this home tour. He started the ODI series with 36 runs and then dismissed for 19 and 1 runs respectively. He should regain his form in this game and expect it to happen. Angelo Mathews should step up and play match winning knocks for his team. He is the most experienced batter in the side and he needs to play his A-game. He used to bowl just 3 overs each in last two matches, hopefully will bowl more overs in this game.

Milinda Siriwardana who re-called to the team after long gap, scored runs in last 2 matches. He scored 58 off 58 and 29 off 27 runs respectively, he also bowled handy spells in both the matches. The all rounder Thisara Perera sidelined after showing poor performances in the first game. As team has more injury worries, chances of Perera to back in the XI in place of Kapugedera. Dhananjaya de Silva is also in the line to take the place in the middle-order. Akila Dhananjaya is the lone bowling threat for the opposition at the moment. He claimed 8 wickets in last two ODIs, which includes a spell of 6 for 54 in second match. The poor run of Dushmantha Chameera might open the door for Wanindu Hasaranga who bowls magical spin. Lasith Malinga may share a new bowl once again with Vishwa Fernando.

INDIA :

The dominating and clinical performances of Team India expected to continue in fourth ODI on Thursday. After winning the test series 3-0, India leads five match ODI series by 3-0 at the moment. India played with the same XI in all three matches. Except Bhuvneshwar Kumar all other bowlers picked wickets in the series. Jasprit Bumrah leads the bowling chart with 11 wickets in 3 innings. The spinners Chahal and Axar Patel also done their part very well in the mid overs of Sri Lankan innings. Shikhar and Kohli finished the proceedings in the first match and assured 9 wickets win. Rohit Sharma’s blistering century and MS Dhoni’s half-century confirmed third win in a row for India on Sunday.

Team India don’t have any injury worries at the moment, that may allow the same XI to take field in this 4th ODI. But as the series was secured already, the bench strength might tested ahead of the ODI series against Australia in home. Shikhar Dhawan started the series with bright match winning knock of 132 runs in just 90 balls. He also scored 49 runs in second match, but dismissed for just 5 runs on Sunday. He could offer another big knock in this game and he deserves a place in all your fantasy teams. His opening partner Rohit Sharma has scored an half-century and century in last 2 matches. If both openers gives another flying start, then it would hard for opponents bowlers to control the run flow. Virat Kohli managed to score only 7 runs after that stunning knock of 82 runs in the first ODI. The no. 1 batsman in ODI format, expected to be back in form and score runs in this match. As mentioned above Team India might test their bench strength. That case Manish Pandey and Ajinkya Rahane will get a game in place of Lokesh Rahul who scored only 21 runs in 2 innings.

Kedar Jadhav offers good part time off-spin, but he failed to score runs in the middle-order. Therefore some chances for him to drop out for this game as well. The former captain and experienced MS Dhoni batted nicely in both innings. He scored match winning 45 not out in second match and also scored 67 not out in the last game on Sunday. His current form is the big boost for the team in the middle-order. He also does a good job with his wicket keeping skills. Hardik Pandya would continue to do all rounder’s role in the team. As an all rounder he deserves a place in all fantasy teams. The leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and the left-arm spinner Axar Patel bowled an impressive spells game after game. Axar claimed 5 wickets in 3 innings and he bowls well controlled spells in mid overs. Chahal picked 2 wickets each in first two games and remained wicket-less in the last. Kuldeep Yadav may need to wait more for his chances. Jasprit Bumrah’s amazing bowling form will continue on Thursday. He picked total of 11 wickets which includes 5 wicket haul in third ODI.
