Team India eyes on historic away series whitewash when they faces Sri Lanka in the 3rd test in Pallekele. Sri Lanka is in critical situation of avoiding clean-sweep in this home series. India lead three match test series 2-0 after winning first two matches in very convincing passion. Third test match between Sri Lanka vs India is scheduled to start at 10 AM Local | 10 AM IST on Saturday, 12th August 2017.

Two heavy losses pulled away Sri Lanka’s confidence, but this is the right time for them to play positive cricket and avoid whitewash at the home soil. Rangana Herath and Nuwan Pradeep has been omitted due to their respective injuries. Pace bowlers Dushmantha Chameera and Lahiru Gamage added to the squad ahead of the third test. New test captain Dinesh Chandimal is back to full fitness and he will lead the team in this game as well. Sri Lankan bowling attack looked weak in first two matches as they allowed Indians to post 600+ scores in both matches. As their wicket-takers Herath and Pradeep are out, their bowling looks more weak now. The opening batsman Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis came with their respective hundreds in the second innings of last test. Both of them added 191 runs for 2nd wicket, but those knocks were not enough for Sri Lanka.

Dimuth Karunaratne opened the innings along with Upul Tharanga in last two tests and the opening combination will remain for this test too. Karunaratne played one good knock in each tests as he scored 97 in 2nd innings of 1st test and 141 runs in 2nd innings of 2nd test. Tharanga had poor test at Colombo last week where he scored only 2 runs in 2 innings. We could not predict him based on one bad match, he has chances to score runs in this game. Trustable batsman in the side, Kusal Mendis scored 170 runs in 4 innings, including a century in the last innings of 2nd test. He is a key batsman and deserves place in fantasy teams. Captain Dinesh Chandimal and the former captain Angelo Mathews steadies the batting in the middle-order along with the in-form wicket keeping batsman Niroshan Dickwella. Mathews played an handy knock in the first test with 83 runs in the first innings. But he managed to score 26 and 36 in last test.

Captain Chandimal’s poor form continued in the last test, but as a captain he has huge amount of responsibilities in avoiding whitewash. So expects match saving performances from him at Pallekele. Dickwella scored 157 runs in 4 innings, includes 2 half-centuries. He is capable of scoring runs and most importantly he is the in-form player in Sri Lanka squad. Dhananjaya de Silva had a poor game with both bat and bowl. He will keep his place in the XI as the team needs an all rounder. Bowling all rounder Dilruwan Perera scored brilliant 92 runs in the first test. He did not shine much with a bowl, but his batting in the lower order makes him as a key player. Lahiru Kumara played in the first test, but dropped in second. He is expected to replaces Nuwan Pradeep in this test. Lakshan Sandakan and Dushmantha Chameera also has a chance to be in the playing XI on Saturday.

Two impressive wins steadies Team India’s stay at top of the ICC Test Rankings. For the first time in an years India is in a position to win a test series with whitewash in Sri Lanka. Captain Kohli and Co., looking forward to showcase their best performances one more time and lift the trophy in style. Both aspects batting and bowling are in good shape for the no. 1 test team and they performed very well in those two test matches. Batsmen put up 600 and 622 runs respectively in the first innings of each tests. They won the first game by the margin of 304 runs and won second test by an innings and 53 runs. Shikhar Dhawan scored mammoth 190 runs at strike rate of 113 in the first innings of first test. He managed to score 35 runs in the second test, but could possibly come with another big hundred. KL Rahul was back in the side and scored useful 57 runs in the last test. He is one of important batsman in the side and expects more runs from him.

Cheteshwar Pujara’s wonderful form is a key for Team India. The test specialist has scored two centuries already in the series. His scores were 153, 15 and 133 in three innings of first two tests. He deserves a place in your fantasy teams and he could score an another hundred or more than that. Captain Virat Kohli dismissed for 3 and 13 runs respectively in the first innings those two tests. But he came back well and scored an hundred in the second innings of first test. He is a must pick player who can play brief innings and score an another century in test cricket. After several unsuccessful performances in test cricket for past one year, vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane scored a relief century in the last test. Now he also adds in the list of Key batsman. Middle-order and lower middle-order filled with wicket keeper Wriddhiman Saha and the all rounders Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

All three of them batted well and scored much needed half-centuries. Hardik Pandya, the all rounder also strengthen the batting order with his power-hitting. The man of the match of last test, Ravindra Jadeja suspended for the third test which starts on Saturday. The other left arm spinner in the squad Kuldeep Yadav is expected to replace Jadeja in this test. Kuldeep impressed all with his debut performances against Australia back in March. He is expected to perform well once again in this test against Sri Lanka. India played with pacemen Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav in those tests. The same attack is expected to take place in this test too. But slight chances for Kohli to play with Bhuvneshwar Kumar in this game.
