England’s successful home season continued with a big win in the first test against West Indies last week. Headingley hosts second test which begins on Friday. England is favorite ahead of this test but West Indies has chances to bring surprise if they play well for 5 days. Second test between England vs West Indies scheduled to start at 11 AM Local | 3:30 PM IST on Friday, 25th August 2017.

Former captain and current captain shown their experiences and played match winnings knocks in the first test and helped the side to take lead 1-0. All the bowlers stood up and picked 20 wickets inside 105 overs of both innings. As the home team is in good shape, they will play with an unchanged XI in this game. Mark Stoneman made his test debut in Edgbaston test and opened the innings along with the experienced Alastair Cook. Stoneman managed to score 8 runs on his debut. But he deserves the second chance, that means he will open the innings once again. The most runs scorer of England, Alastair Cook played few 80+ knocks in the series against South Africa, but did not score century or more. In the first test against West Indies, he stood in the middle and scored a double century in the first innings. His score of 243 runs were the huge reason for England’s comfortable win in that game. Tom Westley batted at no. 3, but failed to impress as he dismissed for 8 runs.

Captain of the team, Joe Root played another wonderful knock and scored 136 runs. He added 248 runs for the 3rd wicket along with Cook. Both Cook and Root will play huge role for England one more time. Dawid Malan, who struggled against South Africa, batted well in the last game and scored 65 useful runs for his team. He could play much better knocks and capable of scoring hundreds. Jonny Bairstow takes care of gloves work and also bats well in the middle-order. As a wicket keeper he is a must pick player for each fantasy teams. The all rounders Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali didn’t play big role with bat in the last match. But both are expected to play big role this time. They bowled well in both in both innings and shared 4 wickets between them. Stokes and Moeen should be in your fantasy teams. The most experienced fast bowling duo James Anderson and Stuart Broad leads the bowling attack. Both of them picked 5 wickets each in the last test. Anderson claimed 3 in the 1st innings and 2 in second while Broad claimed 2 in the 1st innings and 3 in second. Toby Roland-Jones, the bowling all rounder continue to shine with an opportunities comes in his way. He is a match winner and could possibly surprises all by picking most wickets in the match. The only possible change will be including the bowling all rounder Chris Woakes in the XI. In case if he comes to XI, then Tom Westley would make a way.

It was a disappointed start for the West Indies team at Edgbaston last week. Jason Holder led-side managed to score less than 170 runs in both innings of the match. They bowled out for 168 runs in the first innings and in the second things gone more worse as they bowled out for just 137 runs. Those poor batting performances caused them a match by an innings and 209 runs. It’s a right time for West Indies players to re-group and to show their 100% efforts in the middle for next 5 days. Kraigg Brathwaite and Kieran Powell opened the innings for West Indies in the last game and hopefully the opening pair will be stay for this game as well. Brathwaite has a big role to play in this match at the top of the order. He played sensible knocks in their last away test series last season. The team expects similar performances from this talented batsman and chances are bright for him to shine. Kieran Powell yet to score big runs in 2017. Fingers crossed, he has 50/50 chances to shine in this game. Brothers Kyle Hope and Shai Hope bats at no. 3 and 4. It was a debut test for Kyle Hope and he managed to score 25 and 12 runs respectively. Shai Hope, the wicket keeper batsman is the only consistent batter of West Indies in 2017, but he failed in the last test. Lot of expectations on his shoulders and he is expected to perform better in this game.

All rounder Roston Chase scored total of 24 runs in those two innings, but he claimed 4 wickets in that same match. He played several good knocks in past one year or so, hope for some better performances from him. Jermaine Blackwood, the only batsman who scored an half-century for West Indies in the last match. He scored 79 runs off 76 in the first innings. It was a come back test for Blackwood and he shined straightaway. He could come with similar knocks in this match as well. Wicket Keeper Shane Dowrich keeps the wicket for Windies, he managed to score only 9 runs in that match. He is well capable of playing crucial lower middle-order role and expects runs from him this time. West Indies played with 4 seamers in the first game. Among them, captain Jason Holder and Kemar Roach are experienced players. Both these bowlers should come with much better spells in this game. Alzarri Joseph and Miguel Cummins are the other two pace bowlers. Leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo sat down in the first test, has big chances to gets a game on Friday. If he back in the XI, Miguel Cummins might set a way for him.
