T20 Blast


The home of Cricket the Lord’s Ground at London hosts the T20 Blast match between Middlesex vs Essex Eagles on Thursday, 27th July 2017. Both the teams have played 7 matches each and both of them won only 2 matches respectively. This could be important game for both the teams to stay in the contest of advancing to knockout stages and that makes this game as entertaining one.



After playing 7 matches, Middlesex has won 2 matches and lost 4 of them. Their opening match against Gloucestershire was ended in a tie. Middlesex’s players Dawid Malan and Toby Roland-Jones joined England squad to play a test match against South Africa. Middlesex lost both of their most recent matches and in a hurry to back in a winning ways. Malan and Roland-Jones unavailability are big set back for the team now, but that creates an opportunity for the new players. Middlesex has named 12-member squad for this Lord’s clash. While lookout the squad for this game, Middlesex might go with an unchanged XI.

The captain of the side Brendon McCullum and Nick Gubbins will open the innings. McCullum misfires in maximum of innings and that creates pressure on him and also for his team. He is world class player and could come back to form at any time. Nick Gubbins had a good start in the last game, but dismissed for 21 runs. Hopefully, he will go for big runs this time around. Wicket keeper John Simpson promoted to no. 3 in batting order and played a some handy knock of 26 runs. He might continue at no. 3 and expects more runs from him. England’s T20I captain Eoin Morgan has huge role to play in this game. He scored amazing 59 runs off just 28 balls against Somerset in last game. He is a game changer and could possibly give you maximum of points. All rounder James Franklin played a good knock against Surrey, but failed with both bat and bowl against Somerset. Keep an eye on Ryan Higgins who plays stunning knocks in the end overs. He could surprises you with his quick scoring abilities. New Zealand’s Tim Southee and Steven Finn will lead the pace attack once again. Both of them are good bowlers and could help you with wickets. Tom Helm and Nathan Sowter would keep their places safe in the XI.



Eagles also won 2 out of 7 matches in the season. Their last match was against Glamorgan and it abandoned without a ball being bowled. With the bowling efforts of Ravi Bopara, Mohammad Amir and rest of the bowlers, Essex controlled Hampshire for 124 runs in 20 overs on last Friday, which was Eagles last resulted game. Adam Wheater and Daniel Lawrence finished the game nicely and brought a second win of the season. Eagles has lot of talented and experienced players in the group. Varun Chopra struggling to score runs at top of the order. But Adam Wheater and Daniel Lawrence played a handy knocks against Hampshire. These top 3 batsmen has a huge role to play in this game on Thursday.

The experienced all rounders Ravi Bopara and the captain Ryan ten Doeschate are in the middle-order to handle the pressure in second half of the innings. Bopara shown a classy performances with a bowl against Hampshire, where he picked 4 for 19 in 4 overs. He could be a must pick player for this game. Ryan ten Doeschate also played an handy knocks in the tournament. Azhar Zaidi could bat at no. 6 and his bowling efforts also a key for the team. Wicket keeper James Foster also there to finish the game in good note with power-hits. South Africa’s Simon Harmer was the only bowler who conceded lots of runs against Hampshire. He may get an another chance in this game based on his experiences. Mohammad Amir bowling brilliant spells for Eagles. He picked 1 for 18 in 4 overs against Hampshire. His pace and speed would give him wickets and he would give you lots of points. Paul Walter also had a great game against Hampshire. He picked 2 for 20 in 4 overs spell and he also bowl another good spell on Thursday.
