T20 BLAST : GLOUCESTERSHIRE VS KENT SPITFIRES – FANTASY PREVIEW

Natwest T20 Blast 2017 hosts three three matches on Thursday, in the first match of the day Gloucestershire meets Kent Spitfires at the College Ground in Cheltenham. Both Gloucestershire and Kent played one match each till now. Visitor Kent started the season with 7 wickets victory and hosts for this game, Gloucestershire tied their first game with Middlesex on last Friday. South Group match between Gloucestershire vs Kent Spitfires scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM Local | 7 PM IST on Thursday, 13th July 2017.

 

GLOUCESTERSHIRE :

The home team for this clash Gloucestershire playing their second straight home game on Thursday. In their first match, Gloucestershire managed to tie the game against Middlesex, as both teams concluded with 182 runs in 20 overs. Australian veteran Michael Klinger is the captain of Gloucestershire and he has a company of his country man Cameron Bancroft in the XI to fulfill the overseas quota of players. In the match against Middlesex, Klinger and men managed to post 182 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Bancroft smashed an half-century and helped the side to post competitive total. All rounder Benny Howell scored 33 useful runs and the top order batsmen managed to get good start but could not convert it into big scores. While defending the target of 183 runs, Benny Howell was the one who claimed 2 for 31 in 4 overs. Matt Taylor and Jack Taylor bowled at over 11 runs per over in their respective spells. End of the day, Gloucestershire bowlers held their nerves and tied the game in last ball thriller.

Now, Gloucestershire looking forward to play their second home game and this time they faces Kent Spitfires. Gloucestershire has strong top order and middle-order batting. Captain Michael Klinger is well experienced and he was the member of BBL Champions Perth Scorchers. That would help him to handle the pressure at crucial time of the match. He bats well as an opener and expects good knock from him on Thursday. He opens the innings along with wicket keeper batsman Phil Mustard. The opener has scored over 4000 runs in his T20 career at strike rate of 124. He is such a promising batsman at top of the order. Ian Cockbain bats at no. 3 and he also has impressive strike rate of 125 in T20 matches. He is well capable player who could score big runs at any moment. Australian Cameron Bancroft impressed with 51 off 31 balls at crucial situation, he smashed 4 fours and 2 sixes in that game. He is expected to play another good knock once he gets batting opportunity on Thursday. All Rounder Benny Howell is a must pick player in the team. He is well experienced at this level of T20 career and he generally shows all round performance on the field.

Jack Taylor is an another all rounder in the side. He scored some runs and picked wickets against Middlesex. But he conceded too many runs in his 3 overs. He will get a game on Thursday and could expect much improved performances from him. Kieran Noema-Barnett also provides all round performances. He maintains strike rate of 132 in T20 Cricket and he also capable of picking wickets. He was in very good form in recent times and that would help him to shine on Thursday. Matt Taylor gone expensive other day, but he could come with better spell against Kent. David Payne and Chris Liddle bowled some decent spells against Middlesex, they are expected to keep their places safe in the side.

 

KENT SPITFIRES :

On Sunday, Kent Spitfires started their season with 7 wickets victory over Essex. Kent side dominated Essex in all departments of the game. First controlled the opposition for 166 runs in 20 overs. New Zealanders James Neesham and Adam Milne provided good wicket taking spells for the team. Neesham picked 3 for 37 and Milne bowled brilliantly for his effort of 2 for 24 in 4 overs. The experienced left-arm spinner James Tredwell bowled economical spell and picked 1 for 18 in 4 overs. Other two bowlers Matt Coles and Darren Stevens gone expensive and both bowlers conceded over 10 runs per over respectively. While chasing the target, Kent tasted a victory with 9 balls to spare, thanks to captain Bell-Drummond for his score of 90 not out. He got a good partnerships along with Joe Denly and Northeast respectively.

The opening batsman Daniel Bell-Drummond lead the team in this season and his current form helps him to do his job well at the moment. Kent has been announced the unchanged squad for this game. They retains their impressive top order batting along with useful all rounders in the middle order. Bell-Drummond will open the innings again along with Joe Denly. Both are in good form and chances are high for them to shine on Thursday. Sam Billings take cares of gloves works behind the stumps. He is one of the most important player in the squad right now, as he played several T20 leagues around the world. He dismissed cheaply on other day, but expects better come back form him on Thursday. Sam Northeast is well experienced T20 batsman. He scored almost 2000 T20 runs at strike rate of 137. He is expected to play another good innings against Gloucestershire on Thursday.

All Rounder James Neesham was the most wicket taking bowler of Kent on other day when he picked 3 for 37 in four overs. He was bit expensive, but his wicket taking skills resolves those issues. He is always good with bat and he is expected to show another impressive all round performances on Thursday. Alex Blake bats in the middle-order for Kent, he is well experienced player too. He maintains strike rate of 133 in T20 cricket, which makes him power-hitting in the format. The veteran all rounder Darren Stevens scored almost 4000 runs in T20s and also 11o wickets. He was expensive in the first match, but well capable of providing match winning performances in next game. He is one of the must pick player for this game. Adam Ball was in XI against Middlesex, but he did not bowl or either bat in that game. He might keep his place safe as Kent would look to go with same XI. Adam Milne bowled so well in that first game and picked 2 for 24 in 4 overs. He may bowl another impressive spell in this game. As mentioned above James Tredwell is a key bowler for Kent. He is well experienced and always come with crucial breakthroughs.
