Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed’s uncle will root for India in Champions Trophy 2017 final

On the eve of the high-octane final between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed’s uncle, Mehboob Hasan said he will cheer for Team India in the final of Champions Trophy 2017 on Sunday at The Oval, The Tribune -India reported.

Hasan, who lives in the city of Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, wants Team India beat Pakistan in the final and defend their title.

He is confident about Men in Blue will outclass his nephew’s team as it is not as strong as Team India. “Our team is superior. I can bet that India will win the trophy,” he said.

When asked about Sarfraz Ahmed and Pakistan team, he said, “He (Sarfraz) is playing for his team. I am happy he is doing so well in life and cricket.”

Sarfraz’s mother, who is from Uttar Pradesh moved to Karachi after her marriage, is still in touch with her brother through Skype.

At the same time, Sarfraz, who has met his uncle just three times till date, is still very attached to him. Hasan met his nephew is Chandigarh last year when Pakistan played Australia in the ICC World T20.

Hasan also went on to recall a moment when Sarfraz’s grandmother (Hasan’s mother) always worried about his Sarfraz’s love for cricket, dreading that he would end up hitting someone with his bat.

While India beat Bangladesh in the semi-final by nine-wicket, Pakistan defeated England by eight-wicket to qualify for final.

The arch-rivals will now face each other again at The Oval in London. This is Pakistan maiden Champions Trophy final, while India will play their fourth Champions Trophy final.

Earlier, in the tournament, India defeated Pakistan by 124 runs. Since, that defeat Pakistan have made solid improvements as they defeated South Africa, Sri Lanka, and England respectively to keep their hope for maiden Champions Trophy title alive.
