Well balanced Mumbai Indians side has lost only 4 matches in this year’s competition, two of those were came against their opponents in this clash Rising Pune Supergiant. Rohit Sharma lead Mumbai Indians are very strong this year, but things were not gone on their way when they faced Supergiant. Now it is time for them to overcome the hurdle and beat the neighbor to qualify for the final straightaway. MI has lost two matches in last three encounters, but the win in the last game against KKR brought them some momentum ahead of Playoffs. As Jos Buttler is not available due to national duties, Lendl Simmons would continue at top of the order. He has two half-centuries to his credit in the 4 innings that he played. He lost his wicket for 0 against KKR, so he needs to find his form in this game and needs to give solid start for the MI. Parthiv Patel who used to open the innings in 13 consecutive times this year, missed out in the game against KKR due to niggle. He is also expected to be back in the side as he is the first choice wicket keeper and an opener for MI.

Ambati Rayudu and Saurabh Tiwary got an opportunities in the last game and both of them played well. Among two of them Rayudu has bright chances to retain his place in the side and he is expected to play at no. 3 or 4. Nitish Rana who had a great season in the first half of the season, struggled in last 6 innings. He was dropped in the last game and that what expected to continue on Tuesday. Captain Rohit Sharma has very huge role to play in this game. He managed to score half-century against RPS when they met last time and that kind of efforts are expected from the captain of MI. The middle-order is filled with match winning all rounders. Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya strengthening the side with their performances throughout the seasons. Pollard is a key player for MI, he has ability to make nothing is impossible when he is in the middle for MI. Pandya brothers does a great job with both bat and bowl. Krunal Pandya missed few recent games due to injury but he was back in the side against KKR on Saturday. He is expected to play crucial role with bowl as he used to bowl economical spell with wickets. Hardik also bowled well in some occasions. With bat, he used to play crucial knocks in end overs and power-hitting are his plus point.

Among the bowlers, MI continued to play with Karn Sharma in last few games. The leg-spinner picked 6 wickets in his last 5 innings, but he used to bowl expensive spells more often. As MI looks to go with their full power, Harbhajan Singh who had great season with bowl (expect against KXIP last week) is expected to be back in the XI for this important clash. Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell McClenaghan and Lasith Malinga – all three of them were rested on Saturday. MI is set to bring back all three of those pacers to the side and go with full strength against RPS. Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is the hosts for qualifier 1, that means MI has home advantage in this match. The large crowd of Mumbai is expected to be back on their home team on Tuesday.

The big performance in last league game on Sunday assured the second spot for Rising Pune Supergiant. The team finished at bottom second in the table last year in their inaugural IPL season, this time that they finished the league stage at top second and qualified for the Playoffs. The big boost for Steve Smith and his men, that they defeated Mumbai Indians twice in the league stages, so they would look for three out of three and book a birth in Final for the first time. Nine wickets win in the last game against Kings XI Punjab raised the confidence level of RPS. Before that game, RPS lost their momentum bit when they lost to Daredevils on Friday. But the bowling efforts of Unadkat, Shardul and Daniel Christian bowled out KXIP for just 73 runs. RPS top-order batsmen completed the formalities in 12 overs and advances to playoff by gets second place.

Ajinkya Rahane is one of the well experienced player in the RPS and he used to open the innings along with the new comer Rahul Tripathi. Rahane struggled to score runs in maximum of the innings this season, in between he used to play some good innings too. But his inconsistency with the bat is the issue for RPS. He needs to play well as he playing at his home ground of Wankhede. Rahul Tripathi impressed a lot with his batting, but he fell early in recent matches. On Sunday, he managed to score 28 runs off 20 balls with 4 fours and a six. He is one of the key player of RPS and this young man could surprises all with big scores. Captain Steven Smith used to play with lots of responsibilities. In the last match, he did not has much to offer with bat as the target was low. He remained not out with 15 runs in that game. Smith’s form and his consistency are the matters for RPS and in Wankhede, he is expected to go for big. Manoj Tiwary plays some sensible cricket for RPS this year. Generally he used to play at strike rate of around 100 in the IPL, but this year he looks different and plays aggressively. All Rounder Ben Stokes is not available for the remainder of IPL as he joins England squad. That would be a biggest set back for RPS. Batsman Usman Khawaja who is at bench for more than a month has a chances to play his first match on Tuesday.

MS Dhoni’s workload will increases as Ben Stokes is not available for this game. The well experienced wicketkeeper batsmen has to play big knock in the end overs and needs to finish the game in high. Daniel Christian would keep his place safe in the late middle-order as he does a good job in last few matches. On the absence of Imran Tahir, RPS replaced him with another leg-spinner Adam Zampa in the last couple of matches. Zampa bowled well against KXIP on Sunday and picked 2 for 22 runs in his 4 overs spell. He must bowl well in the high scoring ground like Wankhede. The young Washington Sundar cemented his place in the XI with his useful off-spin. He is expected to play once again for RPS. Pacers Jaydev Unadkat and Shardul Thakur are in good shape against KXIP on Sunday. Shardul who struggled to pick wickets in last few matches, came good in last match and picked 3 for 19 in 4 overs. Unadkat has picked more than 20 wickets this season in just 10 innings. He bowled well once again against KXIP and picked 2 for 12 in three overs with one maiden.
