The disappointing season of Royal Challengers Bangalore continued on Friday, when they lost 9th match in 12 attempts this season. Virat Kohli and team are playing their final home match of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday evening. This is going to be their final chance to win the game in front of home crowd and give them something to delight and finish the home season with positive note. The 46th match between RCB vs KKR is scheduled to start at 4 PM IST | 10:30 AM GMT on Sunday, 7th May 2017.

Nine losses in 12 matches is not an easy thing to digest for Royal Challengers Bangalore. They were one of the favorite to win the trophy this season, but now they are the first team who are eliminated from the season and still hold at bottom of the table with just 5 points. RCB bowlers came good in the game against KXIP on Friday. They controlled the opposition batting order quite nicely and gave 139 runs target to their batsmen to chase it down. Aniket Choudhary and Chahal bowled so well and picked 2 wickets each. Bowling all rounder Pawan Negi also done a good job with 1 for 21. An experienced all rounder Shane Watson was the lone bowler who conceded at over 10 runs per over in that last game. He failed with bat scored only 3 runs, which means that he may be dropped for this game against KKR.

Batting worse continued for RCB and they bowled out for 119 runs while chasing the gettable target of 139 runs. The big names of RCB top-order failed once again and walked back one by one. Chris Gayle walked back for 0, his captain Virat Kohli also gone back for just 6 runs. Most expected AB de Villiers thrown his wicket for 10 runs. While the wickets gone down in one end, Mandeep Singh fought with 46 off 40 balls at the other end. Pawan Negi was the second top scorer of the innings and he scored 21 runs in 23 balls. Kedhar Jadhav, Shane Watson and the bowlers – everyone thrown their wickets for single digit scores. On Sunday, KKR is the opposition which going to face RCB. The home team bowled out for just 49 runs in the first meet up against KKR, now is their chance to take a revenge on them and give some solid reason for their supporters to cheer. Now, there are more chances for some youngsters to get a game, names like Praveen Dubey and Harpreet Singh.

Two back-to-back losses this week pushed down Kolkata Knight Riders to third position in the points table and they still need of wins to ensure a playoff spot and top of the points table. On last weekend, KKR lost a match to SRH by the margin of 48 runs and in a recent match against RPS, they lost that home game by 4 wickets. Dropping in-form Robin Uthappa considerable one of the main reason for KKR’s loss against RPS. He was dropped due to some niggle, hopefully he will be back against RCB at his home ground, M. Chinnaswamy stadium, Bangalore. Nathan Coulter-Nile who bowled so well for KKR, bowled his first wicket-less and expensive spell against RPS other night. Chris Woakes bowled well in the last game and picked 3 wickets for his team. Sunil Narine and Umesh Yadav also bowled well against RPS and expecting similar performances in typical Bangalore pitch on Sunday evening.

Among the batting performances, Gautam Gambhir who is second in the list of most runs scorers, did not play an impressive knock in last two matches. His opening partner Sunil Narine also started to fail at top of the order. Both of them needs to play good innings on Sunday. Robin Uthappa is expected to replace Sheldon Jackson, who wasted the opportunities which came in his way. Yusuf Pathan failed once again with bat and scored only 4 runs. He needs to step up and take team home to move up in the table once again. Manish Pandey (37 runs) and Suryakumar Yadav played useful knocks in that game against RPS and Suryakumar Yadav would retain his place after that impressive knock. All Rounder Colin de Grandhomme finally came well with bat and scored 36 off 19 balls. He is expected to keep his place safe as Shakib al Hasan left for National duties. Earlier news was like Chris Lynn would return on May 9 against KXIP, but there would no surprises if he play on Sunday itself.
