IPL – MATCH 44 – SUNRISERS HYDERABAD VS RISING PUNE SUPERGIANT – FANTASY PREVIEW

Sunrisers Hyderabad are back to their fortress Hyderabad to play their last two home matches of the season. In the first one of those two matches, the defending champions are set to face Rising Pune Supergiant who pushed Sunrisers to 4th in the points table recently. Winner of this encounter will move up in the table and would reach top second in the points ladder. Match 44 between Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rising Pune Supergiant is scheduled to begin at 4 PM IST | 10:30 AM GMT on Saturday, 6th May 2017.

SUNRISERS HYDERABAD :

The IPL Champions of last season, Sunrisers Hyderabad has registered 5-0 win record at home in the on-going season, but their poor run continues in the away matches. They have won 1 out of 6 away matches, lost 4 and one match were ended in no-result. After that recent loss to Daredevils 2 days ago and also the victory of Rising Pune Supergiant against KKR pushed Sunrisers down to no. 4. The plus point for the home team is that their undefeated streak at home would help them against RPS and if they register 6th consecutive win at home, they will move to no. 2 in the points table with 15 points. Captain of the team David Warner smashed 126 runs off just 59 balls against KKR last weekend in the last match at this venue. The outstanding opener from Australia is the key factor for SRH all through the tournament, especially at Hyderabad matches. He had a good start against DD, but lost his wicket for 30 runs in 21 balls. Warner is expected to play an another firing knock at this ground and there is no surprise if we come with an another century.

Shikhar Dhawan the opening partner of captain Warner, also playing a key role for the team. He managed to play supportive role and he done that well in so many occasions. Warner is at top of the list of Orange Cap (Most runs scorers) with 489 runs in 11 innings. His partner Shikhar Dhawan is also in the top 10 of that list and he is currently at 6th place with 369 runs in 11 innings. Both the players are in need to provide an another solid start for the team. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is also playing a good role for SRH. He did not get chance in first set of matches but once he found a place in the XI, he started to make a mark almost in every match that he played. He scored 228 runs in just 5 innings with the high score of 89 runs and he strikes at 161.70. Fans favorite experienced all rounder Yuvraj Singh started the season with 27 balls 63 runs. Then, he had many average innings where he scored less number of runs for his team. But, finally he found his form back in the last match and scored 70 runs off just 41 balls (11 fours and a six). That innings might bring him back to prime form again, once that happens Yuvi would hurt the oppositions with his hitting. All rounder Moises Henriques continued to fail with his bowling and it continued against DD in the last match as well. He contributes consistently with the bat, but he bowls too expensive overs almost in each encounters. He is in need to correct his errors and perform upto his level.

Deepak Hooda found a way back to the XI after missed out in the last home match against KKR. Chances are high for him to misses out once again at Hyderabad and makes a way to bowling all rounder Bipul Sharma. The other possibilities are all rounder Vijay Shankar also has chances to play in this game in place of Hooda. Wicket keeper Naman Ojha didn’t get much of opportunities to bat as the top order finishes the innings frequently. But, he does a good job behind stumps and he is expected to do the same on Saturday. The Afghanistan export Leg Spinner Rashid Khan made a lot of impact in the tournament already and he picked 12 wickets in 10 matches for his team. He did not pick many wickets in last few matches, hopefully he would find a way to pick lot of wickets in this game. Purple cap holder Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddharth Kaul and Mohammad Siraj are the pace options for SRH in the last few matches. The duo done a good job for their captain in almost every match. All three of them shared 2 wickets each in the match against KKR last weekend. With the good shows of them, Ashish Nehra may misses out once again on Saturday. After the continues failures of Moises Henriques with the ball, SRH may bring back Afghan star all rounder Mohammad Nabi into the XI. Nabi could smash the ball all over the park and also very handy with his off-spin. If Nabi is in the XI, plenty of chances for Vijay Shankar to replace Deepak Hooda. Remember Shankar offers medium pace bowling.

RISING PUNE SUPERGIANT :

At the end of first 10 days of this IPL Season, Rising Pune Supergiant were at bottom of the table with 1 win and hat-trick losses. Now, RPS team are at no. 3 in the table with 6 victories in last 7 matches. With that splendid efforts, Steven Smith and his men earned 14 points in 11 matches and overtook Sunrisers Hyderabad to reach the no. 3 position. RPS has 3 more matches to play including this game against SRH and they need minimum of one win to keep their chances high in playoffs. But, as their Net Run Rate is low compare to other teams in the top six, RPS needs more than one win to cement their place in playoffs. The opening batsman Rahul Tripathi who is playing in his first IPL season made a name for himself with his consistent batting in the season. He is in the top 10 most runs scorers list with 352 runs in just 9 innings. His highest IPL score was 93 and it came against KKR on Wednesday night. He won the game for his team almost single handedly. His opening partner Ajinkya Rahane is in the mixed form and his inconsistency would be one of the worry for RPS. He scored 60 runs off 34 balls in the first game, since then he managed to score 155 runs in 10 innings. Particularly in the last three innings, he managed to score only 21 runs. RPS needs him to be in form and support Tripathi at top of the order.

Captain Steven Smith continues to bat at no. 3 for RPS. He is also in the top 10 most run scorers list with 333 runs in 10 innings. But in the last two innings, Smith was dismissed for single digit scores of 4 and 9 runs respectively. He might get good game and could expect some good knock from him on Saturday. Manoj Tiwary’s failure continues at no. 4 position. The right handed batsman used to play at no. 6 or 7 in the first half of the tournament and his quick knock at death overs helped the side to score decent totals. But he was promoted to no. 4 in last few matches and he managed to score only 8 runs in last 2 innings. He may be go down in the order again to strengthen the batting in the lower middle order. All rounder Ben Stokes has won man of the match in three different occasions in this year IPL. His knock of 103 runs in 63 balls against Gujarat Lions proves his worth in the RPS group. As an all rounder, Ben Stokes used to shine in any of the area in any given days. MS Dhoni used to give valuable contributions to the side frequently. He dismissed for just 5 runs against KKR on Wednesday, but he is expected to play some good innings on Saturday night.

Australian all rounder Dan Christian also giving a good contribution for the team. He used to bowl well decent spells match after match. He also contributes with bat that whenever he gets the chances. He would keep his place safe in the RPS side. Washington Sundar, the young all rounder is one of the lucky charm of RPS team. He has played last 6 matches for RPS and the team won 5 of them. He uses to bowl economical spell for RPS in the powerplay overs, he picked 2 for 18 runs in the last match against KKR. RPS used to play with pace bowlers Jaydev Unadkat, Shardul Thakur and the leg spinner Imran Tahir as a specialist bowlers in last several matches and that might continue in this game too. Imran Tahir is at second in the most wicket takers list with 17 wickets. He picked 7 wickets in last 3 innings and it would be good contest between Tahir and his SRH counterpart Rashid Khan. Unadkat is also in the top 10 list of wicket takers, with 12 wickets in 7 matches Unadkat holds the place at no. 7. Possibly no changes are expected in the RPS group, unless any one have injury issues on the match day.
