The new season and new captain to refresh Kings XI Punjab squad and they are looking forward to bring their A game, just like what they did in 2014. After finished bottom of the table last year, management of KXIP decided to change their captain and handed over the captaincy to one of their hard-hitting all rounder, Glenn Maxwell. Everything gone against KXIP last season, they managed to win only 4 matches in 14 encounters. Now, they named Maxwell as a captain and their captain of last season Murali Vijay has been ruled out for the whole tournament due to shoulder injury. On the absence of Murali Vijay and as he opened the innings for Australia in T20Is in recent times, captain Glenn Maxwell is expected to open the innings for KXIP on Saturday along with Manan Vohra. Maxwell scored stunning century on his debut as an opener in T20Is last year against Sri Lanka. Manan Vohra opened the innings for KXIP in past 3 seasons and he is expected to offer the same this year.

Indian test wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha, the inform batsman will keep his no. 3 spot in the XI in this year too. Saha done so well for KXIP in past seasons, he was one of the main reason for the team to qualify for the finals for the first time in 2014 (which is known as the best season of KXIP). England’s limited overs and T20 captain Eoin Morgan found a place in KXIP squad this year. He played for KKR and SRH in the past, his form throughout the season would help him to score runs quickly on Saturday. The power-hitting middle order and the pillar of KXIP, David Miller is set to play key role once again for the Kings. He was in good form during South Africa’s domestic competitions recently and he is expected to carry forward that form in IPL. Australia’s Shaun Marsh who are with KXIP squad from the beginning of IPL would wait for his chances in the season. South Africa’s class batsman Hashim Amla has less chances to play on Saturday, he might get chances once the tournament progress on. Armaan Jaffer and Rinku Singh are the other batsmen in the squad.

All rounder Marcus Stoinis is expected to take over the place of All rounder ahead of the experienced Darren Sammy. His bowling and batting were on top level during BBL tournament and he might offer the same in IPL too. Promising left arm spinner of KXIP unit, Axar Patel will keep his place in the side and he is expected to bowl well on Saturday. India’s Gurkeerat Singh Mann is the another all rounder in the squad. As Ishant Sharma joined the squad of KXIP, he might get a game straightaway on Saturday. His experiences in IPL would keep him in playing XI of KXIP. Mohit Sharma who had plenty of experiences in IPL, would play a key role for KXIP in this season. He might open the bowling attack along with Sandeep Sharma, who done his role well in past 3 seasons for KXIP. Pardeep Sahu, Varun Aaron, Anureet Singh, New Zealand’s Matt Henry, KC Kariappa and Rahul Tewatia are also in the squad of KXIP to strengthen the bowling attack. If Indore pitch supports the spinners, then either Pardeep Sahu or KC Cariappa would joins with Axar Patel in the XI.

Once Rahane dismissed, Smith took a show on his side and played plenty of shots. As Ben Stokes fell after scored 21 runs, former skipper MS Dhoni joined Smith in 16th over. Both Smith and Dhoni gave their best to take the team home safely. In the last over, when they needed 2 big hits of last 3 balls, Smith finished the game with back-to-back sixes. Middle order batsman Manoj Tiwary did not get a chance to bat in that game. RPS are expected to go with same batting line-up on Saturday.
