Must win game on the cards for both visiting team and the home team in Match 20 of this season IPL. Gujarat Lions the home team for this game, heading back to Rajkot after losing the last match to Mumbai Indians on Sunday evening. On other side, Royal Challengers Bangalore who traveling to play this away game faced 3 losses in a row in recent time. As both the teams looks forward for 2 points and move upwards in the points table, this match would offer lot of entertainment to the fans. The 20th match between Gujarat Lions vs Royal Challengers Bangalore is scheduled to start at 8 PM IST | 2:30 PM GMT on Tuesday, 18th April 2017.

After losing the first two matches of the season in bad way, Gujarat Lions registered their first win against RPS few days ago. The clinical performances by the top order batsmen and 5-fer by Andrew Tye helped them to get their first success in this long tournament. As they faced an another loss against Mumbai Indians on Sunday, which was third loss in the season for GL. Now, as 11 matches are left (including this game vs RCB), Gujarat Lions needs minimum of 7 wins out of these 11 matches to stand in chances to qualify for the playoff. Therefore, Raina and company would focus on a big win on Tuesday. Back-to-back good performances by Brendon McCullum at top of the order brought him back into the good form and he should continue it on Tuesday. Dwayne Smith played a very good knock against RPS on his return to opening slot, but fell for 0 against MI. As openers like Roy and Finch are in the line to take that opening spot, Smith should find back the form and needs to play the innings like how he played against RPS last week.

Jason Roy was dropped against RPS and then came back in place of Finch against MI – he was sent at 6 in the order and responded well with quick runs. Aaron Finch who used to bat in the middle order in first 3 matches, missed a game against MI as his kit bag was not arrived. He might be the first choice when lookout for overseas player to play in the middle-order. As all rounder Dwayne Bravo is back to the full training session on Monday, he is expected to play for GL on Tuesday night. If that happens either Smith or Roy would make a way for him. Andrew Tye is doing so good with a bowl, so chances are less for him to make a way for Bravo. Skipper Suresh Raina has played a very good knock in the first game this season. After that he used to get good start but failure in establishing into big knocks. The same happened against MI, he was playing well and when he looked to aggregate the scoring rate he lost his wicket for 28 runs. He needs to play step up and play good knock for his team to ensure a win against RCB. Man in form Dinesh Karthik played an another amazing knock against MI, where he scored 48 off just 26 balls. He could be a key factor for GL and could finish the game in style one more time for the team on Tuesday. Among Indian youngsters Ishan Kishan gets a frequent chances in the XI, but he is yet to prove his talents in the competition. He promoted to no. 4 vs MI, he supported Karthik well but managed to score only 11 off 14 balls.

All rounder Ravindra Jadeja was back to the side and played last 2 matches. The man with golden arm throughout Indian season, is yet to perform well in the competition. He bowled expensive spell against RPS and then bowled a wicket-less spell at 8.50 against MI. He should regain his momentum and bowl well for his team in upcoming matches. Among bowlers Andrew Tye done a good job for his team once again. After that 5 wicket haul against RPS, he picked up 2 more wickets against MI. He could be a best pace bowler of GL this season. Basil Thampi and Munaf Patel bowled at around 9 runs per over in the last match. Munaf managed to pick a wicket but Thampi is still looking for his first IPL wicket. Praveen Kumar used to pick early wicket for his team, but unfortunately he goes expensive match after match. That might cause him a place in the XI and if he rested Dhawal Kulkarni would possibly come to the XI.

The three time runner-ups in IPL, Royal Challengers Bangalore are moved down to bottom of the table. As they earned only 2 points in the 5 matches they had played, RCB now in a situation to approach every game as a must win from here on. Four losses in 5 matches are huge setback for Virat Kohli and his men. The team which known as batting power in the competition misfired match after match and that pushed them to 8th in the table right now. RCB has 9 more matches to play in the league stage and they requires minimum of 7 wins to stand in some sort of chances to qualify for Playoff stage. RCB management are keep on rotating between Gayle and Watson. Both are match winners and as of now both of them are struggling for form. It’s a big question mark, which one of them would play against GL either Gayle or Watson or RCB would drop both of them in this game?

Virat Kohli, the captain was back to the team from injuries and scored 68 runs straightaway against MI and then he scored 28 off 19 against RPS on Sunday night. He scored almost 1000 runs in the last season and he still has the capabilities to do wonder and win the matches for his team. AB de Villiers, the another promising star player in the team started his season with stunning 89 runs against KXIP. He managed to score useful runs in the last matches too, but his strike rate under 100 were the worrying thing for RCB. He is known for power-hitting and takes the team to big scores. But, he failed to do that in past 2 matches, hopefully he would come and play big innings at Rajkot on Tuesday. The back-to-back duck sent Mandeep Singh into deep worry. He played at top, middle and lower middle in the batting order for RCB, which was tough to perform in various positions. Guess that RCB would keep him and give an another chance to him against GL. Sachin Baby could be an other option to fulfill the role. He played only one game this season RCB and he has chances to be back in the XI on Tuesday.

Kedar Jadhav played back-to-back amazing knocks in the first two matches of RCB, then he started to struggle and managed to score single digit runs. On Sunday, he scored double digits but faced 22 balls to score 18 runs. All rounder Stuart Binny and Pawan Negi tried hard on Sunday night, but those two players not upto the mark to say the game changers for RCB in the late middle order. Among bowlers, Adam Milne got a chance to play for the first time in the season and he responded well with 2 for 27 runs in 4 overs spell. He may get an another chance against GL. Yuzvendra Chahal was not utilized well by RCB in the last two games, also he looks expensive in recent matches. Chahal could be a game changer for RCB if they starts to utilize him well once again. The man who took hat-trick against MI on Friday, Samuel Badree managed to pick one more wicket to his tally and bowled at 8 RPO in that game vs RPS. He stays positive and hope some more better and surprising performances from him on Tuesday. Sreenath Aravind, left arm pacer also bowled beautifully and managed to pick 2 wickets to his credits.
