The history-making season of IPL hosts its 10th edition this year and it begins with grand re-match of last year’s final at Hyderabad on Wednesday. The defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad is all set to faces the runner-up of last season Royal Challengers Bangalore in the season opener. Both the teams has injuries and unavailable of some of the their star players for this match. The 1st match of IPL-10 between Sunrisers Hyderabad vs RCB is scheduled to start at 8 PM IST | 2:30 pm GMT on Wednesday, April 5 2017.


The team which surprised each and every cricket fans by defeating strong RCB on their own backyard in last year’s final and lifted the Trophy as a Champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad has added some more strengths all departments of the game and set to go as a well balanced side of the season. Captain David Warner who was the reason for success last year, might help his team to defend the title successfully. For that, Warner is needed to regain his prime form and perform upto his level soon. He was in poor form in the test series against India, recently. India’s Shikhar Dhawan, who opened the innings along with Warner in last two seasons, would do the same this year too. He was sidelined from national squad due to poor form, but his recent domestic form shows that he is dangerous player in this format of the game.

New Zealand’s captain Kane Williamson will fight hard to find a place in playing XI of Sunrisers. He is a world class player and he was in great form throughout 2016/17 season. But as SRH needs a balanced side and need an all rounder and bowler to do overseas duties, Williamson’s place in the XI are not secured. All rounder Moises Henriques, who contributed a lot for SRH in last few seasons is awaiting to offer the same this season too. His form in BBL and recent domestic matches would help him to give his all round performances. Indian star all rounder Yuvraj Singh is one of the biggest strength of SRH. His experiences and his hard-hitting would help the side for sure. Young 21-year old Deepak Hooda who had average season last year, will play for SRH once again. He was in good form during the recent domestic T20 and one-day competition over last two months. His power-hitting in the middle order would help the team to post big totals on the board. Specialist wicket-keeper in the squad Naman Ojha is playing his 4th season for SRH. Generally he will play at lower middle-order, but based on the match progress he used to come at no. 3 in the past and that might happen in this season too. Eklavya Dwivedi, Ricky Bhui and Tanmay Agarwal are the other batsmen who are in the squad of SRH.

Vijay Shankar, who led the Tamil Nadu team and win the Vijay Hazare Trophy is awaiting for his chances to make his debut in IPL. He was in SRH squad last year, but unfortunately he was sidelined due to injury. His all round performances would help the team to win matches. Afghanistan’s star all rounder Mohammad Nabi who sold to SRH for the first time is set to make his IPL debut on this season. But, chances are less for him to get a chance straightaway. Australian all rounder Ben Cutting and England’s Chris Jordan are also in the squad to strengthen the all rounders options. Chris Jordan who done it well in recent past, might get matches once the tournament progress on. The sensational bowler of Afghanistan Rashid Khan is in prime form and the 18-year old youngster is all set to play his debut IPL game on Wednesday. His form in recent series against Ireland proves how big strength he is for SRH. India’s veteran fast bowler Ashish Nehra, who played a big part in last season success will do the same for SRH once again in this season. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also in the squad to support Nehra with a new ball. Mustafizur Rahman who is on national duty in Sri Lanka at present, would miss the season opener and joins the squad on April 8. Barinder Sran, who done well for the side last year, might play the similar role for his team once again. Young Mohammad Siraj and Siddharth Kaul are in the squad along with Ben Laughlin, Abhimanyu Mithun and Pravin Tambe. Rashid Khan’s form is the key aspect for SRH. Also, Warner and Yuvraj Singh might play a big role for the team on Wednesday.



The unavailability of the captain Virat Kohli is a big setback for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The Indian captain was injured his shoulder during the 3rd test vs Australia few weeks ago. He is unavailable for initial matches of the tournament and would return back to the side after few games. On the absence of Virat Kohli, the power-hitting opener Chris Gayle has lot to offer for the team and his responsibilities also increased a lot. An another uncertain player is AB de Villers, who suffers with back injury would play in this season, but his availability in the initial matches are not confirmed yet. The inform batsman in the recent test series, KL Rahul has been ruled out due to shoulder injury. That means the responsibilities of Shane Watson and Kedhar Jadhav has been increased to the core. Watson done so well with all round performances in BBL earlier this year, is expected to offer big for RCB this season. Kedhar Jadhav who cemented a place in India’s limited overs team would play a key role for RCB.

The young Sarfaraz Khan injured himself during the practice session and he is not available for whole tournament which is another set back for RCB. On his absence, Sachin Baby is expected to play in the middle-order. Australia’s young and talented Travis Head is the other batsman who are in the squad of RCB. Left-arm bowling all rounder Pawan Negi had been grabbed by RCB in this year auction and the youngster would play his part for the team in this season. He failed throughout the season last year for Daredevils, but as he play for new Franchise and new season, expected to play a key role for the team. Praveen Dubey and Stuart Binny are the other all rounders in the squad of RCB. Experiences of Binny in IPL tournaments would bring him to playing XI. While look out the bowling unit of RCB, Yuzvendra Chahal would comes first to the equation and he is emerged himself as a star bowler of the team. He will play his third season for the franchise and he was the leading wicket-taker of RCB in past 2 seasons. The second costliest buy in this year Auction, England’s Tymal Mills would offer a best of him and he is expected to fulfill the vacant of Mitchell Starc in the squad.

An experienced leg-spinner Samuel Badree would play for RCB, but his place in the starting XI is uncertain for the tournament opener. Australia’s Billy Stanlake, New Zealand’s Adam Milne and South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamsi are the other overseas bowlers of RCB. Among three of them, Shamsi has chances to get a place in Playing XI once the tournament progress on. Sreenath Aravind and Aniket Choudhary are the two front-line bowlers to offer pace bowling. Sreenath Aravind has done well in the past and he is expected to same role in this season too. Harshal Patel who gone expensive in all the matches he played last year had been retained by the franchise and he is expected to play several matches for the team this year too. Iqbal Abdullah and Avesh Khan are the other two bowlers who are in the squad of RCB. Shane Watson and Chris Gayle are the most experienced players on Wednesday. If ABD is available for the series opener then he would join the party with Watson and Gayle. Chahal and Negi’s spin attack would be a key factor for RCB on Wednesday. Young gun Sarfaraz Khan may surprises everyone as he done in the past two seasons.
