ODI – UNITED ARAB EMIRATES VS HONG KONG – FANTASY PREVIEW

Associates teams has busy time in this month. First it was Desert T20, 8 teams were participated in the event. After the conclusion of Desert T20 Challenge, the host nation United Arab Emirates hosts tri-nation one-day international series involving Scotland, Hong Kong and U.A.E. itself. In the series, each team faces the opponent teams once. Both U.A.E and Hong Kong are heading to this game after defeating Scotland in a convincing passion. The ODI match between United Arab Emirates vs Hong Kong is scheduled to start at 10 AM Local | 11:30 AM IST on Thursday, 26th January.

 

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES :

After that disappointing outing in Desert T20 Challenge, the home team U.A.E. was in pressure to register a win in home advantage. That exactly they did on Tuesday against Scotland. Some changes were made in U.A.E. squad from Desert T20 lineups. Batsman Mohammad Qasim who did not get chance to play in any of the 3 matches in Desert T20, earned his chances and he opened the innings in ODI vs Scotland. Bowler Qadeer Ahmed was added in the squad as 15th member. He also played vs Scotland on Tuesday. Bowlers from U.A.E. performed well with the ball. Lead paced Mohammad Naveed picked a wicket in his 10 overs spell. Qadeer Ahmed was expensive, he bowled 4 overs and gave away 31 runs. He might dropped on Thursday and he could make a way for his Captain Amjad Javed, who was rested on Tuesday. All Rounder Rohan Mustafa bowled a good spell and picked a wicket for 38 runs in 8 overs. Fast-medium bowler Zahoor was at his best on Tuesday, where he picked 3 crucial wickets for 17 runs in his short spell of 5.2 overs. The spinners, Imran Haider and Ahmed Raza also bowled an amazing spells. Both of them bowled full 10 overs spell. In that, Haider picked 3 for 36 and Raza picked 2 wickets for 19 runs at economy rate of 1.90. With that bowling efforts, U.A.E. bowled out the opponents for 170 odd runs. While chasing the target, opener Rohan Mustafa who is in good form during Desert T20, lost his wicket early for 10 runs. Mohammad Qasim opened the innings with Mustafa, got out for just 4 runs. He might make a way for an All rounder Mohammad Shahzad on Thursday. Ghulam Shabber started well, but fell for 14 runs and the experienced batsman in the side Shaiman Anwar also failed in that game, lost his wicket for just 4 runs. Anwar is a back bone of U.A.E. batting, he could come back to form at any time and Thursday might be his day. U.A.E were down 39 for 4 at one stage. Then, middle-order batsmen Muhammad Usman and Adnan Mufti put up a good partnership and rescued their team. Usman fell after scored well made 45 runs. On other side, Mufti remained not out and finished the game for his team. Naveed came with quick innings of 30 off 23. In the end, U.A.E tasted a win by 4 wickets and 8 overs to spare. Captain Amjad Javed is expected to back in playing XI vs Hong Kong. Opener Rohan Mustafa, Shaiman Anwar, Adnan Mufti and Mohammad Naveed are key for U.A.E. To defeat Hong Kong and remain unbeaten in this short series, U.A.E. players should perform as a team in all aspects of the game.

 

HONG KONG :

Hong Kong’s performances were so good in the game against Scotland on last Sunday. Hong Kong gone with the same squad for this series from Desert T20. HK bowlers came with good spells and bowled out the opposition for 205 runs. All rounder Aizaz Khan bowled well with 1 for 34. Ehsan Nawaz remained wicket-less, but he bowled under 4 runs per over. Pacer Tanveer Ahmed bowled at above 5 runs per over, but he picked 2 wickets to his credit. Experienced bowler in this bowling attack, Nadeem Ahmed bowled a nice spell and picked four wickets for 33 runs in 10 overs. Ehsan Khan and Nizakat Khan picked a wicket each and bowled a good spells too. While chasing a target, Wicket keeper Carter opened the innings along with McAulsan. The opening stand was not so big for HK, McAulsan lost his wicket for just 8 runs. Experienced Babar Hayat came to the middle at no. 3 and played a match winning knock of unbeaten 79 runs. Carter supported him well and scored 43 runs with 5 boundaries. Nizakat Khan scored quick 25 runs and Waqas Khan came with an handy knock of 35 runs. In the end Hong Kong registered a win by 7 wickets. That was most convincing win for Hong Kong. To maintain the momentum which they got against Scotland in the last game, Hong Kong needs to held it’s nerve and should come with much better performance to defeat U.A.E at it home!! Babar Hayat’s form is key or HK. He could play one more match winning innings and shattered U.A.E’s dream of winning the game. Nizakat Khan, Aizaz Khan, Ehsan Khan and Nadeem Ahmed are needs to come with good efforts to defeat U.A.E at it’s home turf. Opener Carter and Waqas Khan should continue their good form and HK must need that from those players.
