Exciting McDonald’s Super Smash T20 tournament is on last week of the season now. Twenty-five round robin matches were over already, season has total of 30 match in league round. As just 5 matches are left before the knockout rounds, tournament gets lot more interesting factors to follow it. In the 26th match of the season, Central Stags playing against Canterbury Kings on New Year Eve day at New Plymouth. Match is scheduled to start at 4 PM Local | 8:30 AM IST on Saturday, 31st December.

Host of the match, Central Stags are sitting pretty at top of the points table. After 8 round of matches, Stags has 22 points to their name with 5 wins, 2 lost and 1 no result. Other 4 teams are still in competition and looking for a place in knockout round, Stags should continue their good form and win both remaining matches to go to Final straightaway. Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene playing a key role for stags in each match he has been played. Mahela turned out as pillar of the team. Appearance of Ross Taylor on Thursday, strengthen Stags batting lineup better than ever. His innings of 82 off 41 balls came with Strike Rate of 200, ensured a huge win for Stags. New Zealand’s local players also came with good performances when ever the side needs from them. Blair Tickner’s 5 wickets haul on Thursday, stunned the opposition and made their situation so bad. All other bowlers also in good form and if they maintain their form in remaining matches, Stags would qualify to final straightaway.

On other side, Canterbury Kings was in a good position, but now they are struggling get a place in knockout round. Kings are at no. 4 in the table as of now. To confirm the knockout round entrance, Kings needs to win both of their remaining matches with good NRR. Currently, Kings has 16 points after eight round of matches. Firebirds also has 16 points, but as their NRR is better than Kings, Wellington team is at no. 3 spot. Kings failed with batting in their last game against Knights. Todd Astle who batted lower middle order scored 37 runs @ strike rate of 170. Other batters failed to score runs at good strike rate. Todd Astle proved his worth with bowling too and he picked 2 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs spell. Johnston also picked 2 wickets in that innings. All other bowlers disappointed their fan while defending low target.
