In on-going Big Bash League – Season 6, Melbourne Renegades hosts Perth Scorchers in match no. 9. Star-studded Renegades side meets another tough team in the competition Scorchers at Etihad Stadium, Melbourne. Renegades vs Scorchers are scheduled to start at 7:10 PM Local | 1:40 PM IST on 29th December, Thursday.


Melbourne Renegades vs Perth Scorchers :

Home team for this encounter, Renegades has played only one game so far in the competition till now and they won that game comprehensively against Thunder last week. Captain of the side, Aaron Finch’s innings of quick fire 63 off 37 balls helped Renegades and it posted 179 for 7 in 20 overs. Finch’s opening partner Marcus Harris started well but he lost his wicket for 19 runs. Cameron White disappointed Renegades fans by got out for just 1 run. Callum Ferguson supported his captain well and made 38 runs. Caribbean star all rounder Dwayne Bravo scored 24 quick runs at end stage of innings. Renegades bowlers responded well with bowl and picked Thunder’s wickets at regular intervals. Caribbean duo Sunil Narine and Bravo picked 2 wickets each. Veteran Australian Brad Hogg also picked 2 crucial wickets at important stage of the innings. Chris Tremain and Tom Cooper also bowled well and picked a wicket each. After that stunning win, Renegades looks to maintain that consistency against Scorchers especially at in front of home support.

One of the favorite in the competition and two time champions Perth Scorchers started the season with big win against Strikers at their home. But, things were changed suddenly on Tuesday and they lost a game to Sixers. Scorchers won a game against Strikers with a margin of 48 runs. Innings of Ian Bell (61 runs) and Turner (44) helped the side to post mighty 197 runs in 20 overs. Scorchers added Shaun Marsh to the squad against Sixers. After the arrival of Shaun, Scorchers looked more solid, but it gone down quickly against Sixers. Perth Scorchers managed to score only 130 runs for the loss 8 wickets in 20 overs. Mitch Marsh and Whiteman are only players who scored 25 or more runs for Scorchers. Bowling unit of Scorchers looks solid always. They came very well against Strikers and bowled very good spells. Star bowler Mitch Johnson picked 3 wickets and Willey picked 2/15 in 4 overs spell. In the game against Sixers, Andrew Tye bowled a brilliant spell and picked 3 wickets for 15 runs in 4 overs spell. Mitchell Johnson back to the squad for Renegades match after misses out against Sixers on Tuesday. To register a second win in the competition, Scorchers needs to play well with both bat and bowl. Opening stand of Shaun and Klinger would be crucial for them. If things goes in their way, Scorchers would come up with big win on Thursday.

One change are made in Renegades 13-member squad. Cameron Stevenson came in to squad for Xavier Doherty. He will be included in playing XI or will do 12th man duty as per BBL policy. After that clinical performances on last week, no changes are expected from Renegades side. Therefore, Stevenson are expected to do 12th man work.

Mitchell Johnson added to the 13-member squad after missing a game against Sixers. All rounder Hilton Cartwright also got a place in squad. Cameron Valente and James Muirhead made a way for Johnson and Cartwright in 13-men squad. Both Ashton Agar and Hilton Cartwright were expensive in both occasions. So, chances are high for both of them to make a way for All rounder Cartwright and also for Star Bowler Johnson.
