Tri-Series – Zimbabwe vs West Indies – Preview

Tri Nation series in Zimbabwe is nearing to Final. Bulawayo hosts a last league match between Zimbabwe and West Indies on Friday, 25th November. Third team involved in the series, Sri Lanka has been already qualified for final. The last league match on Friday will decide the 2nd team who joins Sri Lanka in Final. Match is scheduled to start at 9:30 AM Local | 1 PM IST.

West Indies lost a match against Sri Lanka on Wednesday evening by just 1 run. That 1 run defeat put them in a position of must win in a match against Zimbabwe. Jason Holder’s men has 7 points in 3 matches (1 win, 1 loss and 1 tie). Evin Lewis and other batsmen came well on Wednesday while chasing a huge target of 331. Lewis’s maiden ODI century came at right time. If Lewis, Kraigg, Powell and Hope come with good innings on Friday, they will post some tough target for the host Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe, the host nation were beaten up in the first match by Sri Lanka. After that heavy defeat, Zimbabweans came strong and posted a fighting total of 257 against West Indies on last Saturday. While defending a target, Zimbabwe bolwers came back very well and managed to tie a game. That tie game them 2 points and kept their chances alive. In 3rd outing, Zimbabwe shared 2 points each with Sri Lanka, because of match abandoned due to rain. Now, Zimbabwe has 4 points and they are in do or die situation on Friday. As a host nation, they would like to be in Final match. That means, tomorrow match will give us a lot of entertaining and excitements.

The 31-year old Harare man, Craig Ervine is one of the experienced top order batsmen in this Zimbabwe Squad. He made his international debut in 2010 in an ODI match against India. In his 6+ years career, he played 51 ODIs and scored 1536 with highest score of 130*. He has 2 centuries and 9 half-centuries to his name. He got out for 0 in first match vs Sri Lanka. But, he came back strongly and scored fighting 92 vs West Indies in next match. On Monday, he remained 23* when the rain came so hard and abandoned the match vs Sri Lanka. He looks in good touch, If he continue to play in nice touch again on Friday, he would come with lot of Fantasy Points.
