ENGLAND TOUR OF INDIA – 1ST TEST – PREVIEW

One of the most anticipated tour of the year, England tour of India – 2016-17 begins with Test Series followed by ODI and T20 series. Five match test series begins in Rajkot on November 9, Wednesday with 1st Test. It is going to be debut test match for the venue. Rajkot ever hosted a test match before. No. 1 Team and the home team, India is all ready to go for this series. As well as the visitors who won test series against India in India during 2012-13. England is the lonely team who defeated India in India’s home test series in this decade. England are ready to go too!

Virat Kohli’s (Test Captain) men are in focus of continuing the good run at home. After defeated New Zealand 3-0 last month, India has upper-hand in this series. Indian spinners like off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja and Man of the Series in recently concluded ODI series, leg-spinner Amit Mishra are awaiting to destroy England’s batting line-up in this series. Gautam Gambhir made a comeback against New Zealand in last test and he retained his spot against England too. His arrival are big boost for the team. Apart from Gambhir, other batsmen in the team like Vijay, Pujara, Captain Virat, Vice-Captain Rahane are in a good shape and if they continue their good form it will trouble England bowlers lot more. New guys like Hardik Pandya, Karun Nair and Jayant Yadav are waiting for their chances and if once they get their opportunity, they will prove their worth too.

On other side, the visitors has very talented and well mixed group of youngsters along with experienced players. Bone of England’s pace bowling James Anderson missed out recent test series in Bangladesh due to injury and he was sidelined against India for the first 3 matches. But, suddenly Anderson announced that he is fit and reached India on Monday. Hopefully, he will be available for selection in the 2nd test. But, his presence will give lot of boost to England team. England also has good and depth batting line-up. Captain Cook is set to open the innings again with young talent Ben Duckett. Joe Root, Ballance, Stokes, Bairstow and Moeen Ali will follow the openers and assure the depth in their batting. Chris Woakes emerged himself as an all rounder and perform well with bat at no.8. Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid, Gareth Batty and Zafar Ansari are in the team to handle the spin department. Woakes, Broad, Finn and Jake Ball are the pace bowlers in the team. Recent loss in Bangladesh might hurt English team but the presence of Anderson may boost them and giving them some of confidence.
