Bhuvneshwar Injured; Shardul Thakur Replaces!

Team India’s injuries issues are continuing in the on-going test series against New Zealand. Seamer Ishant Sharma ruled out just before the first test due to chikungunya. KL Rahul got injured during the first test at Kanpur and he has been ruled out for remainder of the series. Another opener Shikhar Dhawan injured his right thump on day-3 of second test and two days ago, BCCI announced that Dhawan has been ruled out for 3rd test at Indore which starts on this Saturday.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the new addiction to the injury list and he misses the 3rd test vs Blackcaps. Bhuvneshwar was the pick of the bowler for India in the 1st innings of 2nd test. His five wicket haul in the 1st innings gave India a decisive 112 run lead. It was his 2nd Five wicket haul in last 3 matches he played. The seam bowler had a back strain that ruled him out from 3rd test. According to BCCI release, Bhuvi sustained the injury during the 2nd test in Kolkata. Shardul Thakur announced as replacement player and he joins Indian team as 15th member of the squad for the third test at Indore.

Shardul Thakur, the 24-year old bowler from Maharastra yet to play his debut test for India. He earned his first call-up to the squad during India’s tour of the West Indies in July-August. He done a good job against Australia A in a two first class matches recently.

The third and final test match of the series starts on October 8, Satuday at Indore. Match will start at 9:30 AM Local time.
