Pakistan Vs West Indies in UAE – T20 Series – Pakistan Team Preview

Pakistan starts their home season in UAE with some memorable moments in England. Pakistan lost ODI series to England by 1-4, but they had shown some amazing efforts in the Test Series and tied up it 2-2. They also won only T20I against England and completed the tour with victory. Now they looks carry forward that momentum against West Indies in upcoming T20I series which starts on Sep. 23, 2016.

Sarfaraz lead the side in Shortest format of the game. The team has good mix of bowlers and batsman. Lets see Pakistan team preview here with player by player information.

Pakistan T20I Team Preview :

Sarfaraz Ahmed :

Sarfaraz is a Captain of Pakistan T20 side. He made his T20I debut in 2010. His highest T20I score are 76* and he has 296 runs to his name in 15 T20I innings. The Wicket-keeper used to play in the lower middle-order, currently team promoted him to no.4 or 5 positions in Limited overs cricket. He was the most in-form Pakistan batsman in recent tour of England. He played match winning and match saving innings in Test series. He carried his form in ODI series and scored 300 runs in 5 innings with high score of 105. He looks forward to maintain his consistency in T20 format too. As a Wicket-keeper, he is very sharp at the stumps. He took 44 catches and 26 stumpings in his overall T20 career. Considering his recent form, he should be in every Fantasy Team!

Khalid Latif :

The Right hand batsman has played 10 T20I for his country. He made T20I debut in 2008, but he get chances only in recent times. His Strike rate are not healthy in T20Is, he maintains SR of 100. But, he used to play some good knocks with quick scoring in domestic T20 career. He may turn that in this series too! He is good opening batsman for Pakistan and in domestic circuit. He played match winning innings of 59* against England in recent only T20I at Manchester. Hopefully he will play good cricket in this series vs WI, so if you like to take unique players in your teams, go with him!

Sharjeel Khan :

The 27-year old Left handed batsman is in some good form. Sharjeel made his T20I debut in 2013 vs Afghanistan. He struggled to get place in team for a while. But, now he is getting his chances in both ODI and T20I squads. His form in PSL brought him to national team. In recent tour of England and Ireland, Sharjeel smashed 152 runs against Ireland in Only ODI. In that match Sharjeel scored a 4th fastest century by Pakistani player. In the ODI series against England, he scored 100 runs in 5 innings with high score of 58. But, he played match winning innings in T20I vs England and scored quick fire 59 runs. If he carries his T20 form in to this T20 series vs WI, he may give bad memories to WI bowlers.

Shoaib Malik :

The most experienced batsman in this Pakistan Squad. Shoaib Malik playing International Cricket for more than 16 years. The 34 year old, batting all-rounder made his ODI debut in 1999 at the age of 17. About T20 career he has played 244 matches overall and scored 6258 with high score of 95*. He also picked 114 wickets. In International T20 concerned, he has 79 matches to his name with 1468 runs. He picked 25 wickets in T20I. The most solid batsman, may call as run machine of Pakistan in recent years, but he had some bad outings in England. In England he had scored only one half-century in 4 innings he played. But his experience helps him to be back in his usual form. So, hope for some big innings from him. Every fantasy teams should have him!

Umar Akmal :

Umar did not get opportunities to play in tests and ODIs for a while now. He played his last test match in 2011 and last ODI in 2015 WC. But, when it comes to T20I, he has assured place in Pakistan team. He debuted in 2009 and til date he has played 203 T20 matches overall and scored 4631 runs with high score of 115*. In T20Is his highest score is 94 and his Strike Rate are 123. Umar used to do work with gloves. As Captain Sarfaraz do that work, Umar remains in Team as a specialist batsman. When it comes to Fantasy, Umar Akmal is one of the dangerous player who can win the matches single handedly, so he deserved the place for sure.

Mohammad Rizwan :

Rizwan is the wicket-keeper batsman. He used to do wicket-keeper work, when it’s needed. His debut T20I was against Bangladesh in 2015. His Strike Rate are not wealthy for T20 format, he has less than 100 in T20I and 116 in overall T20 career. As lot of top order and middle order batsmen are in the squad, Rizman may warm the bench until any one get injured. Fantasy players should follow team updates before picking him in their teams!

Babar Azam :

Pakistani fans used to call him as a Future of Pakistan Cricket. Babar is just 21 year old youngster who play at no.3 or 4 positions. He has strong domestic experiences with him which led him to the national side. He has played 15 ODIs and 1 T20I for his country. His highest score in ODI are 83 runs. Babar used to play some attacking shots and deals with the boundaries. He had good tour recently in England. He will get his opportunity against WI for sure and he will give you some useful points!

Saad Nasim :

Nasim is an All-rounder who used to bowl legbreak and right hand bat. He made his T20I debut against Australia in 2014 at Dubai. He has only 3 matches to his name with high score of 25. In overall T20 career he has scored 935 runs in 49 innings with the Strike Rate of 117. He also picked 29 wickets in his overall T20 career. Saad’s place in playing XI are not confirmed as the team has well balance side, he may wait for his turn. So, think before taking him in your fantasy teams.

Mohammad Nawaz :

An All-rounder from Rawalpindi has good records in domestic circuit. He is useful batsman down the order and he used to give some good contributions with his quick scoring skills. He proved that in recent ODI series against England. He yet to prove his worth in T20I format. He scored 356 runs and picked 25 wickets in domestic T20 career. But played only 2 T20I till date and he did not get chance to bat in both occasions and remained wicket less in both matches. He may be your choice who can surprise everyone when get his chances.

Imad Wasim :

The best all-rounder for Pakistan in recent England tour. Imad gave some decent contributions to his CPL team Jamaica Tallawahs and he picked 3/21 in CPL final which helped Tallawahs to win the 2nd CPL title. After successful CPL, he joined national team in England to play ODIs and T20. He showed his worth with both bat and bowl. He started the series with 5/14 against Ireland. He picked 4 wickets against England in 4 innings and scored 153 runs in 4 innings. His scores were 17*, 63* 57* and 16*! He also picked 2 wickets in Only T20I vs England. If he continuous his form against WI, he may be the headache for WI batsmen!

Sohail Tanvir :

One of the experienced bowler in current Pakistan team. Tanvir’s T20I debut was against India in WT20, 2007. Till date, he played 51 T20I and he took 47 wickets. He also shown some contributions with bat, his highest T20I score were 41. In overall T20 Career, Tanvir played 230 matches and has 233 wickets to his name. His best T20 bowling figures were 6/14. He had amazing CPL season once again, which brought him back to Pakistan squad. He was expensive against England. Hopefully he will show his full strength against the World Champs WI.

Mohammad Amir :

The Left-arm Fast bowler made his return to International in early 2016. From the day of return to International Cricket, he participates in all 3 formats. But, he played more T20I in recent times. He was outstanding in Asia Cup and in few matches of WT20. He was expensive in some occasions, but overall he is good with his speed and pace. Amir’s best T20I bowling figures were 3/18. If he keep up his good work, he will crush West Indies batting order at any time. On Fantasy, Amir is everyone’s first choice!

Wahab Riaz : 

Another Left-Arm fast bowler in this Pakistan Squad. Wahab shown his class bowling in the past. His 5 wicket haul against India in 2011 WC turned his career. He also bowled spell of the tournament in 2015 WC. But, in recent times he fails to impress. He had average tour in England. He gave away 110 runs in an ODI match against England at Nottingham. But he came back well in only T20I against England where he picked 3/18 and that is his best bowling figures in T20Is. Every fantasy players might consider Wahab in their teams.

Hasan Ali :

Hasan made his ODI and T20I debuts in recent England tour. He made his debut in ODI vs Ireland. He played 4 ODIs against England and he picked 8 wickets in 4 innings with the best of 4/60. He made his T20I debut in only T20 vs England and he picked 2/24. After successful debut tour, Hasan looking forward to play against the T20 Champs West Indies in this series. Guess, he will be the biggest surprise through out the tour!

Rumman Raees :

The 24 year old Karachi man is waiting for his debut in International career. He is playing for his home team Karachi in domestic T20 tournaments. He had average trip in PSL earlier this year. He might wait for his chances in the playing XI. As of now he may warm the bench vs WI.

With the T20I win against England earlier this month, Pakistan going to face World T20 Champs in this thrilling T20 contests! Brace your seat belt and ready to watch one hell of thrilling T20 Series!
